Showering the Bride… and Groom!

March 18th, 2009 @ 6:11 pm by Mrs. Taffy

While Mom Taffy has been planning our upcoming shower, Mr. Taffy and I have had some discussions on whether the groom should or should not be present. Some might argue that the groom merely needs to show up toward the end of the shower, to help with the gifts. Others might say that he doesn’t need to be present at all. I would like Mr. Taffy to be there from start to finish! After all, people are there to share in our joy and shower us with gifts for our life together. ;) To back up my opinion, I busted out some pictures from my mom and dad’s shower.

Mom & Dad Taffy circa 1977

I love checking out the pretty vintage gift wrap!

As proof that my dad didn’t just “pop in” for a quick hello, I found these pictures of him:

Unwrapping a rolling pin…

And a men’s apron! Hmmm, I don’t ever recall seeing my dad in that…

After I saw these images, I really insisted that Mr. T should be present at our shower. ;) The location for our shower is actually somewhat manly, and has a great beer selection! Also, his dad will be there, so they can hide out at the bar if they start to feel out numbered by all of the ladies.

Is your fiance planning on attending your shower?

Oh yes! Mr. Bruschetta would be totally jealous if I got to unwrap all our kitchen goodies myself. :-P

My shower is still in the beginning phases but I want my Mr. there as well! :) Hope that’s okay with the other ladies!
Great pics by the way!

FH doesn’t want to and I’m totally okay with that, he would feel out numbered by all the ladies.

I don’t think Mr. Gloss wants anything to do with the shower, but I hate being the center of attention - (so I might make him come!)

I asked my husband to come. Many, many times. He got such a look of horror on his face and begged me not to come so badly that I felt it would be mean of me, not to mention awkward for a few of my older lady guests, if he showed.

no I would never want him there. he wouldnt be any fun at all! The ladies and myself would have a lot more fun without any guys present.

I’ve only been to one shower where the guy was there and it just seemed weird and awkward to me. And it wasn’t any fun at all!

Awww, what cute pics!! Mr. G’s cousin had a fabulous couple’s shower. They both were there the entire time, and it was a blast!! (And everyone was invited as a couple, so there were plenty of men there, too!)

That’s so funny, my mom called me yesterday to ask if it mattered if my fiance was present for the shower. I thought it would be nice for him to come in at the end and meet some of the ladies but sounds like he can’t make the date they want to pick.

I was in a wedding last year where the bride and groom had a “wedding shower” instead of a bridal shower. I’ve been to a lot of bridal showers and I have to say the wedding shower was the most fun! Although I think Mr. S prefers having a bridal shower where he will not be present.

Seeing as how he will be on his bachelor party weekend, the Mr. will not be at the shower…not even to help with gifts. How progressive the senior Taffys were! :)

Those photos are AWESOME!!! What a great find! Sadly, the Mr. didn’t feel comfortable attending although I really wanted him to be. Glad Mr. T is going for you though!

We had our shower this past weekend, and the Mr was totally there. We used it as an excuse for both of us to make the trip home to NOLA to see our families.

FI will be there even though it will be mostly my coworkers and friends! We figure it’s hosted in OUR honor anyway!
