Visualizing the ‘Do

March 18th, 2009 @ 2:45 pm by Mrs. Piglet

I fell victim to the bang craze (multiple times) over the past couple of years. I was that girl who brought in a picture of Reese Witherspoon’s bangs, and told my stylist to fix mine to look like hers. The picture below is evidence that twisting and cutting sections of your bangs doesn’t look so hot. But lately, I’ve been itchin’ to pull out the scissors once again. I’ve resisted so far, but my hair is the longest it has ever been, and it is disgusting.

I know I want to wear my hair up with side swept bangs (professionally cut) for the big day, but I’m having a hard time picturing it since I’ve never really glammed up my hair in an updo. For my own peace of mind, I decided to book a trial session, even if it is only 2 days before the wedding. In the meantime, I toyed around with the InStyle Hollywood Hair Virtual Makeover to get a feel for different styles on my face shape… like these bangs…

or maybe lose the bangs, and go with a loosely curled updo… like this…

or any of these?

Haha! So I went a bit crazy. I also booked an appointment for a trim this weekend, and continue to daydream about my post-wedding chop.

Are any of you ladies anxious to cut off the locks?

Not a BIG chop, but yup, I definitely want to lose a few inches after the wedding. Since we won’t leave for the honeymoon until Monday (after our Saturday wedding), I might be able to squeeze it in immediately after! :-)

I like Jessica Alba’s ‘do on you!

All through high school my hair was a little bit passed my butt and for my 20th Birthday I chopped my hair and everyone including the Mr freaked out. I have vowed to never let my hair get that long again I had such horrible migraines. So I just keep my hair around the same length which is the middle of my back.

I personally am diggin’ the ‘Alba’! :)
I’m a short bob kinda gal and it’s killing me to grow it out, but I really wanna wear my THICK hair up on the big day!
I plan to cut it right after we get back from the Honeymoon!

No! I can’t wait to cut all this hair off. I’m so lazy and it’s so long that all I do is put it up in a ponytail…which looks horrible along with unprofessional. I can’t wait until after the wedding when I can cut it all.

@Miss Bruschetta: I’m thinking the same thing! to cut my hair immediately after the wedding that is. And when I say immediately, I’m talking about the day after. Hah!

@purpleHaze79: dude, you motivate me to keep on those invites! thanks for that last comment. i’ve have been neglecting our invitations and hope to do something this weekend. :)

@Miss Perfume: Miss P, I just love reading your posts. Doesn’t have to be about wedding, I just enjoy your writing. Glitter, too!

@Miss Joey,@Emilydll: I think I’m going to wait it out despite what it said on my post. It’s 4 months, and I really want to wear it up. I’m gonna bob it afterwards!

@Shay: I’m curious to know how long it takes you to shower and style your hair when it’s that long! Mine isn’t even mid back yet, but it’ll probably grow that length by August.

Oh man, I need a haircut, too. I posted a long time ago about doing a pre-wedding chop. My pre-wedding chop is now grown out and looks terrible. Anyway, enough about me.

I really like the first pic with the sideswept bangs!! You’re gonna look so pretty!

I like the sideswept bangs on you!

How about going with the loose curl updo a la Jessica Alba but still keeping the sideswept bangs?

I still have ages to go until the wedding so just last week I went *ahem* whole hog and got side-swept bangs (sorry! couldn’t help the pun! :D).
I totally love them! I specified that I wanted them kinda long-ish and went for it now so I’d have plenty of time to grow them out before the wedding if I totally hated them. But I love the look of up-swept hair and side-swept bangs, so I’m keeping these suckers until we get married. ^_^

And I love the Jessica Alba hair AND the side bangs. I think they both look great. ^_^

I totally understand what you are talking about! I have naturally curly hair so it gets curlier and drier and frizzier the longer it is. I was getting depressed because it just never looked good so I said to hell with the wedding and chopped off 7 inches this weekend and it looks great! I blow it out with a round brush and the curl gets tighter throughout the day until it looks a lot like Eva Longoria with sideswept bangs. It is what I would want my updo to look like without all the “up.” I have so much love for my hair right now its unbelievable!

My hair is always around my shoulders, but my mom’s hairstylist (and my old hair stylist) is doing my hair for my wedding… I’m tempted to have him cut it the day after so I can go a little longer for the wedding :) hmmmmm

I plan on doing the post wedding chop the day after the wedding so I can sport my new haircut on the honeymoon. Come on October 24!

You are too cute for pasting your face into those pics! After growing my hair for almost a year, I found out that I couldn’t do the up-do I wanted because my hair was too long. I was going to go with a half-up do insted but couldn’t handle it any longer so I recently cut off 8 inches of hair.

I really like the side swept bangs - I’m going to try them when I get my post wedding chop!

I think you look cute in the real bangs picture too! My fiance is the one that encouraged me to get bangs a while back, and I’d been letting them grow out but then he saw an elle magazine spread and fell for bangs again. So I got bored and cut my hair. And I do really like bangs. I’m growing the rest of my hair out after some previous experimentations (I go short pretty often and then occasionally super long and I’m in an awkward phase). My fiance loves my hair up so I’m glad my October date gives me enough time to get rid of the little fringe of hair that I can’t pic up on my neck.

As far as your hair, you should do sideswept bangs with a curly updo!
