Wedding Day Preparation

March 19th, 2009 @ 5:54 pm by Mrs. Spring Roll

With our wedding only three days away, I have been preparing my skin, teeth, and hair to look and feel their best on the big day. I’m certain that I will spend the evening talking to and hugging a lot of guests, and really, who wants to hug a dry-skinned bride? That being said, I thought I’d share the products I have been using. The best part? They are all inexpensive items you can get at your local drug store.

My skin requires the most preparation, as it gets extremely dry and dull. The two products that have been my skin’s saviors are St. Ives Apricot Scrub and Johnson’s Softlotion. St. Ives Apricot Scrub is in one word, amazing. The scrub removes dull, dead skin cells and leaves my skin feeling smooth. After the scrub, I use Johnson’s Softlotion, which moisturizes and hydrates my skin, leaving it soft and smooth.

Thanks to my dad’s genes, I have an oily face, as well as a small chest, but that’s another story. The Neutrogena Wave, with the gentle exfoliating pads, keeps my face soft and glowing.

Throughout middle school I loved using Herbal Essences shampoo (remember when it came in light pink bottles with flowers?). Herbal Essences has come a long way since my middle school days. Their new line of shampoo and conditioner, in my opinion, is amazing. My favorite? Hello Hydration. The name says it all, it leaves my hair feeling hydrated, silky, and smooth.

Don’t you love how clean your teeth feel after a professional cleaning with the dentist? Well, Crest has bottled that feeling into a little container with Crest Weekly Clean. Once a week, after normal brushing, I use Crest Weekly Clean for a beautiful polish.

What products will you use for your wedding day preparation?

I’ve been using the Neutrogena conditioning mask (the one in the little orange pot) … it’s supposed to be used once a week, but I’ve been using it every day, and my hair has never been so soft and silky!

question

aaw, the new formula for the apricot scrub (in Canada anyways) is not for everyone. I loved the old stuff, the new one irritates my skin. :(

I am so with you on the Apricot Scrub- I use it at night before bed and gentle Dove soap in the morning. The 1-2 punch, haha.

I’m excited to try that Crest product! :) St. Ives is the best! I’ve been using their lotions and scrubs for awhile, ever since I read that some celebrity used it (I’m such a sucka!), but it really is great for the price!

The St. Ives Apricot scrub is a little too harsh for me, but I LOVE their new(ish) Elements line. Particularly the Olive scrub. It’s more gentle although not as yummy smelling.

You really should not use the Apricot Scrub — the particles are very irregularly shaped and actually damage your skin. Seriously. Ask your dermatologist for a better recommendation. Mine suggested using a product with Alpha Hydroxy Acids. Much, much better for your skin.

punk rock girl beat me to it - scrubs with irregularly shaped particles are known to tug at your pores and actually make them larger over time. i used to use the st ives scrub and switched to murad’s AHA/BHA exfoliating cleanser.

random tidbit: i’ve actually looked at the particles that make up the apricot scrub under a scanning electron microscope at work!

I just started white strips (once) and am going to really have to try hard to finish the box. I hate having things in my mouth! Thanks for sharing your products, I may try the crest one soon!

I’ve been using the apricot scrub since college, but stopped using them when I found out that it can actually stretch your pores and make them bigger and damage them because the granules are too big. You should find yourself a different exfoliator.

I love to use the apricot scrub on my arms. Does anyone else get little bumpies on their arms? Use apricot scrub!! Truly a godsend!!
And I totally agree on the Herbal Essences, it’s my fave shampoo. Well that and John Freida Weather Works, which even keeps MY hair from getting frizzy in humidity!!

I’ve got combo skin, so I’m never completely sure WHAT to use. SPF moisturizer, though, is a daily DO.

Oh my gosh! Three days? Congrats!

I love the new Herbal Essences lines, and I’m much more inclined to buy their products now that they’ve abandoned those silly orgasm commercials!

Hi Miss Spring Roll. I also have extremely oily skin and have tried countless products to try to counteract the problem, but none have really been the “fix”. Is the wave good for that? What do you use to keep the oil at bay? I’d love your feedback!
