Wedding Blog

I know you guys are really sick of my mug, but I recently had my makeup done for a press video (that I’ll blog about later) by Sachiko Yanase (who did Mrs. Orange’s wedding day hair and makeup).  Sachiko was an absolute doll to work with.  I learned some great tips from her, so I had to share!

I asked her for a very natural look, and these are the products she used:

Face

• Primer - Benefit’s That Gal.  She said that Smashbox’s regular primer is a little too oily, but the oil-free one is great (which is what I use).
• Concealer - Cle de Peau (She said this is the BEST concealer.  I’ve always hesitated to buy it because it’s so pricey!)
• HD Foundation - Koh Gen Do (Purchased at a beauty trade show)
• Loose Powder - Makeup Forever’s HD Powder
• Powder - MAC Blot Pressed Powder
• Blush - Nars The Multiple in Orgasm

Eyes

• MAC Eye Primer
• MAC Liquidlast Black Eyeliner
• MAC eyeshadow - Beauty Marked and Naked Lunch
• Bobbi Brown Beige Shimmer Brick to line bottom of eyes
• Mascara - Fiberwig
• Eyebrows - Shiseido Eyebrow Compact
• Eyelashes - Andrea’s mini, Ardell’s short and medium flare

Lips

• Cargo Lip Gloss Quad in Oceana

Hair

• Bumble and Bumble Thickening Spray
• Kiehl’s Thickening Lotion (discontinued)
• Bumble  and Bumble Defrizz
• Sebastian Shaper Plus Hairspray

Sachiko used a combination of three different types of eyelash clusters.  She used the minis on the ends (which I’d never seen before), then alternated the short and medium flare lashes for a very natural look.  She used the nonknotted flares, but says the ones with knots are easier to apply.  Another tip for dramatic eyes is to use the mini lashes on your lower lashes.  I’ve been using Ardell’s flare lashes forever, and I’m definitely going to try both these ideas!
