Mrs. Cowboy Boot's Picture
Mrs. Cowboy Boot, Santa Fe Age and Occupation: 25, Magazine Editor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Artist and Whitewater Rafting Guide Engagement Date: April 28th, 2008 Wedding Date: October 2009 Venue: Devil's Thumb Ranch, Colorado About Me: I grew up in Los Angeles and have since lived in San Diego, Boston, Italy, Hawaii, New York City, and Santa Fe. I speak Italian and love pasta. My real passion is the outdoors, though. When I'm not at work, I'm snowboarding, hiking with my two dogs, mountain biking, surfing, cross-country-skiing, or boating New Mexico's rivers. About Mrs. Cowboy Boot

When I first saw Sarah Parrott’s portfolio on Etsy.com, I loved the vintage feel of her Goccoed stationery. Tandem bicycles, lots of flowers, trees, and birds whizzed about her many custom creations. See some of her work below:

In designing our save-the-dates with Sarah, we went through several rounds of proofs. First, I sent her my inspiration, which were the images I blogged about here.

We chose to do a save-the-date postcard to keep postage costs down, as well as save money on printing and ordering.

These were the initial proofs she sent back. I originally told her I wanted hydrangea, but also wanted the horse that Mr. Cowboy Boot drew and the script-y fonts. I’m only showing you the front because she got the back right off the bat, and I need some element of surprise!

On the second go-round, we wanted her to play with embellishments to give it more of a Western feel. I mentioned my love for dotted borders. And, this was where we figured out what we thought our color scheme might be: white, cream, yellow and brown. (Still unsure on color scheme. More on that later.) Nonetheless, Sarah incorporated it here.

I like number two.

Except I would enlarge the horse. Cut off part of the picture.. (some of the feet.) So the focus would mostly be his head. Than, I would move the text to the left and enlarge the text. (Kind of like in number 7.)

Except the horse head would be the main focus and below the middle zone and the text would be a little above.

This is a lot of suggestions but the main problem with all the choices to me is that the horse is center and leaves a lot of open space.

If you look at the examples of her other STD, the picture isn’t in the center and enlarge to take up the entire space.. with the text taking up the rest.

This makes up a better layout.

Hmm… they’re all super cute! But I keep getting drawn back to #4. I love the more creamy colours you’ve used in the second set. Can’t wait to find out which one you picked!

I think I like Front 5 the best, and it incorporates your love for dots!

I like Front 7, for the reasons Shelly cited - the horse looks better bigger and less centred, with less space wasted. I also like the creamy yellow colour of the second batch, but I love # 2 as well for the flowery border!

I like 7, but I think it could be interesting to make the horse the lighter color and the print the darker shade

I think they are all gorgeous, but I’m wondering if perhaps the writing in the last set is too light? I’m having a hard time reading it. But perhaps that’s because I’m looking at a computer screen and not the actual invitation?
