Honeymoon Suite Shenanigans

March 23rd, 2009 @ 1:57 pm by Mrs. Tiramisu

No, this is not a post about THAT! (I’ll leave that to you Miss Cheese!)

What I’m talking about is a little tradition that started in my group of friends back in 2006 when my friend L got married. I arranged to steal the key to their hotel room and set Mr. Tiramisu up with the task of decorating it for them. He set up rose petals, bubble bath, and candles in the room for them, and gave the hotel staff a bottle of champagne to put on ice and place in their room right before they got back. Take a look at his handiwork:

L. and her husband liked it so much that it’s become something that we try to do at every wedding that we get to be in. I talked Mr. Tiramisu and a fellow fiance-of-a-bridesmaid into decorating my friend Carolyn’s hotel room in Philadelphia last May with rose petals, and she and her husband loved it as well. In September, my friend Kate was married in Maine, and a group of us covered their bed in flowers in a crazy heart pattern with their initials in the middle. I’m so mad that we didn’t get a picture!

Given my history in this department, I wasn’t surprised at all when we walked into our hotel room after our wedding and found balloons, streamers, flowers, and candy decorating the place. Across the bed was a carefully crafted message to us made out of daisies and Twizzlers. Again, I can’t believe I didn’t get a picture!

Here are the ones I snapped the next morning:

We almost missed this little treat left out on our balcony!

I think what I love the most about this tradition is that while it’s always the girls behind the idea, due to the fact that they are busy being bridesmaids, it is their significant others who carry it out! It just cracks me up to picture a couple of guys coming up with how to best make a romantic display.

Any crazy hotel room decorating stories out there?

I know exactly what you mean about how cute it is that the guys end up doing the decorating! My fiance was so proud of himself and the other guys when we had them do it for a friend. Apparently they spent quite a while in the store figuring out what would be best to get. I would have liked to have heard that discussion. I didn’t see the results myself, but the bride and groom really liked it.

That is adorable…. and I’m picturing Mr. C and his friends trying to make a “romantic” arrangement in someone’s honeymoon suite and it is cracking me up!

that’s adorable. There is no way you’d catch my fiance arranging petals on a friend’s honeymoon bed, but this is way too cute!

We did this for my at my BF’s wedding! We placed all the bridesmaids flowers in vases throughout the room, and made a trail of condoms leading to the bed :)

My friends and I have a tradition of leaving roast beef sandwhiches and champagne! Sounds odd, but after my wedding that was the best thing ever! I’ve tried to do it for the weddings I’ve been to since– it’s such a nice treat after such a long day!

The honeymoon recaps are coming! And yes it is lipstick on the mirror- the boys left behind a tube of bright red “wet and wild” with the “99 cents” sticker still attached:)

That’s a really sweet message, but my practical side cringed when I saw the lipstick on the mirror! The poor hotel staff who have to scrub that…yikes. I really like the rose petals and hershey kisses!
