Mom Taffy threw us a wonderful shower this past weekend. Now that it is over, I can share all of the fun details here, many of which could be easily transferred to wedding favors and decor. Mom Taffy is one seriously crafty lady! But first, I will share our wonderful shower invitations with you. I have been dying to post about these since the day that we stumbled upon them!
Do you remember the cute vintage valentine that I gave to Mr. Taffy this year? While browsing at the same antique store, my mom and I found an unopened package of these shower invitations that were in perfect condition:

We could not believe our luck! These invitations were absolutely perfect for us. I love anything and everything vintage, and we have two adorable pet birds at home. Our shower was also planned for March 21st, the second day of spring. There was one problem: there were only twelve invitations in the box, and our guest list was around sixty.
It only took seconds for me to realize that we could scan these invitations and print enough for our guest list. Since these invitations were from the early fifties, we were pretty sure that any copyright laws would have expired by 2009. Here’s the inside of the invitation, after we added our information with our wedding font, Kon Tiki Enchanted:

I absolutely love these invitations, and still cannot believe that we stumbled upon something so unique and fitting to Mr. Taffy and I as a couple. It has been so hard for me to wait to post about this!
You may notice that the address and my name are a bit darker than the rest of the text. For the non-censored version, we matched the text color to the rest of the invite and used a texture to make the text look vintage and faded.
The original invites were printed on one sheet and folded together, so we did the same for ours. It did take a little bit of time to print, trim and assemble these invites, which I offered to do for my mom, as her arm cast had just come off and I wouldn’t let her overdo anything.
The time was well worth the outcome. I could not have found an invitation that was better suited to my personality if I tried.
Stay tuned for a recap of the shower, including some fun DIY favors and decor ideas!
