Mrs. Cowboy Boot's Picture
Mrs. Cowboy Boot, Santa Fe Age and Occupation: 25, Magazine Editor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Artist and Whitewater Rafting Guide Engagement Date: April 28th, 2008 Wedding Date: October 2009 Venue: Devil's Thumb Ranch, Colorado About Me: I grew up in Los Angeles and have since lived in San Diego, Boston, Italy, Hawaii, New York City, and Santa Fe. I speak Italian and love pasta. My real passion is the outdoors, though. When I'm not at work, I'm snowboarding, hiking with my two dogs, mountain biking, surfing, cross-country-skiing, or boating New Mexico's rivers. Despite my boyish love for adventure, I'm a girly-girl at heart and am overly-excited to pull off the romantic, vintage-inspired, country wedding of my dreams.
About Mrs. Cowboy Boot

Last time, I blogged about rounds one and two of our save-the-date custom design process with stationer and Gocco master Sarah Parrott.

It was on round three that Sarah sent us our winning choice. After round two, I sent her a list of what I wanted to change (which wasn’t much). Our main debate was over color. We had her replace some of the yellow with shimmery gold, and then some of the shimmery gold with chestnut brown. In the end, we only ended up with a tiny bit of shimmery gold, and mostly brown ink. Without further ado:

We worked from PDFs up until we actually received our order, which made it difficult to actually imagine the postcard in-hand.

That said, here she is on Crane’s Lettra paper. The two colors on the invitations are brown and shimmery gold ink.

We ordered vintage stamps from eBay, which I’ll elaborate on next. There are so many ways to find vintage stamps—and you can even get them at face value (plus a couple of dollars for shipping).

How many rounds did it take you to get your save-the-dates right? Were they what you expected when you received them?

We didn’t want anything too fancy, and wanted to do them all ourselves, so we designed them (using an engagement picture) in about 30 minutes.

I had only 3 months between picking our wedding date and the actual wedding, so we had to go with email save the dates to save time and money. Yours turned about absolutely gorgeous though! You’ve got me interested in learning about Gocco (I’m crafty, so I like to do these types of projects!). Yay for etsy! And congrats on some great save-the-dates!

I absolutely love them! :) thanks for the tip on Vintage stamps! I just received my custom stamps from zazzle and although they are beautiful they are too big for our little save the date envelopes. I’m going to look into vintage ones today!

I love that you were able to add a personal touch with the drawing. Beautiful!

Our save-the-date design was simple… it’s our rehearsal dinner invite that I’ve had rounds with! :)

We are using vintage stamps on the invites. I love them!

I love your postcards! I just got the final proof for my save the date magnets from my designer today and I can’t wait to see them in person.

I love those!! Soooo beautiful!!

Our STDs didn’t come out exactly as I would’ve liked, but they were postcards which kept the cost down and they were personalized and totally one of a kind, so I’m happy that they were “us.”

@Miss Burgundy: I wish they were letterpress! They are Gocco, which means the ink is pressed onto the paper with a Gocco machine. It’s much less expensive than letterpress.
