Monogram Inspiration

March 24th, 2009 @ 2:06 pm by Mrs. Gloss

I’ve been trying to come up with THE PERFECT monogram to help tie all our wedding-y paper goods together. I want something classic, that will still be useful after our wedding - so I’m not sure I want to tie in too many nautical details, because I have a feeling by the time our wedding rolls around I’m going to be SO over rope and compass roses. But I also want our monogram to feel at home on all our wedding items.

While searching for inspiration, I found these monograms from Monogram Design—and there are plenty more! I really love the simplicity of the Ws in the lower right.

(Sorry for the terrible colors - there is something seriously wrong with my computer.)

So, here are some of the options we have developed so far:

Monogram Inspiration : wedding invitations stationery Logo 2 Monogram Inspiration : wedding invitations stationery Logo 1 I need to stop reading wedding blogs! There is so much great inspiration out there and I see it and want it all!! This is going to be SO overwhelming and confusing for our wedding palette. Why can’t I just make a decision and stick with it? Sometimes I want a really vintage-y feel with swishy and beautiful calligraphy, and others times I can’t envision anything but perfectly a simple and modern wedding.

Have you had second thoughts about the tone you’ve set for your event?

Miss gloss I swear I had the same thought this morning.
While I adore all my favorite wedding blogs it definitely make me, whose already indecisive, even more so.
It’s probably safe to say I’ve gone back and forth on almost every aspect of our wedding so far.

BTW, I love the simplicity of the W’s as well and think they would go beautifully with your nautical theme!

I’m having a hard time picking a monogram as well! We do have a mood/theme picked, but it’s hard to find things that fit it perfectly…and I don’t want to be kept in a box too much!

I am definitely changing horses midstream with the tone of our wedding! My personal taste which is reflected throughout our home is cleanlined, simple, and modern. Our wedding, however, has evolved into a vintagy garden party with some vintage art prints and maps as the basis for our stationery. I am loving it for our wedding even though I wouldn’t dream of having it for our home!

I always thought I would design a monogram also. Until I actually started playing around with our invitations in the last week or so. Instead of a monogram I’m using more of a border? It’ll only be at the top and bottom of all the wedding paper goods. And it’s simply our name, love&happiness (a theme I’ll be carry throughout) united by the love character in chinese and doublehappiness character in chinese.

This is only the first draft so fonts will most likely change…
P.S. Is there html on this board?

::Gasp:: I really like the one on the top right hand corner! I like the symmetry of that one and the WW one!

Don’t worry Miss Gloss, I think every bride feels that way… I changed my color palette 3-4 times and that doesn’t include going back and forth! It’s hard to stick to 1 idea/plan thoughout the entire wedding process because it drags on for months…

I def have been jealous and wanted SO MUCH because of everybody’s ideas and inspirations but I’ve stuck to my theme and colors. I made the decision off the bat and I’m stubborn like that.. *hoping* it’ll make my life easier :-P

I love the first one with the simple G and the sassy Mr. + Mrs :)
I have to agree though, the more i look at what everyone else is doing the more I change my mind!

The tone of my wedding is really dependent on the venue we choose (which we haven’t yet) - I went from having a modern clean theme to a rustic elegant one. Hopefully I’ll get to stick with this one because I really like the venue - now to see how we can afford it!

Everytime I purchase something for my invites I get on WB and find something I want better. Then I buy more supplies. Then I change my mind. It’s a vicious cycle!!
