Something Blue

March 24th, 2009 @ 3:39 pm by Mrs. Bruschetta

It’s tough to realize that summer is rapidly approaching. But the mister and I can practically taste the warmer months — perhaps because we’re starting to select our signature cocktails to be served at the wedding!

With under six months to go, we’re still debating between some of our favorite potent potables. Gin and tonics, though, are definitely in — featuring Philly’s own Bluecoat gin.

Mr. Bruschetta and I were first introduced to Bluecoat at Cork, one of our favorite restaurants. The local libation was prominently displayed on the bar, and a friendly customer enthused about the flavor it brought to his g & t.

I love the idea of personalizing as much of a wedding as possible to the bride and groom’s tastes. So naturally, I’m looking forward to sharing this something blue with our family and friends in August.

Now it’s your turn: What’s your favorite summer cocktail?

First: You’re probably totally annoyed that I keep telling you I love Bluecoat. But it’s true. There is no second…other than I love dirty gin martinis–all year long.

Nice idea on your something blue!

@Miss Perfume: SO not annoyed. I love hearing that Mr. Bruschetta and I aren’t the only two a bit obsessed with a particular brand of gin.

He’s all about dirty gin martinis, too! :-) I’m getting there…but I’m also a drinking lightweight, so it’s a lotta booze for me! ;-)

Our signature cocktail for the wedding will be Sangrias. Light summery and ties in well with the vineyard theme. And. It’s red so ties in with my wedding colors. hehe.

The FI loves mojitos or cairpirinhias (i totally misspelled that!) - anything with mint leaves I guess :-) I’m a champagne cocktails girl - love the bubbles!

Bluecoat is THE BEST gin in the world. I’ll use Plymouth in a pinch, but Bluecoat is far and away my fave.

So G&Ts are my favorite summer cocktails (with a twist!! ) Actually I’ll drink them anytime:D I also love a good Gin Ricky, which is similar but also has a sugar syrup in it!

I’m a dirty martini or champagne girl…but I just got the newest Sunset Magazine and they had a recipe for a basil gimlet that I might try this weekend…I think it has a chance to be one of my favorites.

@JennyBryde: @purpleHaze79: @Emilydll: @Gerbera: @LzzNYC: @AliCherri1: @ggsb: Mojitos and sangria are high on our list of other favorite summery drinks — I hope we can feature a great recipe of each along with the Bluecoat g & t!

Bluecoat is awesome! Had it for the first time last summer. You’ve reminded me that I should pick up another bottle! Love g+ts but my FI hates them so they probably won’t be one of our signature drinks :(

I don’t know if this is sacrilegious - but I LOVE gin & ginger ale with the rose’s lemon juice! I call it a gg (pronounced jeej)!
