Welp, I did it. I chopped all my hair off. I’ve been dying to do it for some time now, and now with the wedding over I had nothing holding me back. I cut off about 10 inches of hair and donated it to Locks of Love.
I wasn’t the only one in the family that got the choppity, chop, chop done.
Lil’ B is rockin’ a new do too!
He’s a rock star!

I love it! I’m hoping I’m able to grow mine out long enough to donate. Which would be a miracle because my hair grows sooooo slooooow.

I LOVE it! I’m a big fan of short hair! Definitely choppin’ my locks off after the wedding, maybe even before the honeymoon!

@urchingirly: I donated once before, and they ask for 10 inches. Curly girls can straighten their tresses before the chop — probably makes it easier to make that minimum!
I love it. Mine isn’t too long now but I’m itching to cut it.
That looks fantastic! When I chopped my hair for locks of love I cried. Did you cry at all or were you just relieved? I think I cried because the new cut was SO UGLY and I just wanted to glue my hair back on!!

Cute haircut! If I don’t cut my hair before the wedding, I’m DEFINITELY going to have to cut it after. I can’t do long hair for long cause my hair is thick. It’ll be good cause my hair will be long during our honeymoon in Colorado so my head/face/neck won’t be so cold!

@ Miss Taffy: They do actually accept colored or permed. My sister is a hair stylist and gave me a copy of guidelines because I hope to donate after my post wedding chop.
I should have mentioned that they don’t accept bleached hair though.

@ urchingirly - It’s a 10″ minimum of super healthy hair to donate for a wig. It takes about 10 heads of at least 10″ to make just 1 wig. If you color, you could still donate toward a wig if your hair isn’t fried. However, if you donate less than 10″ or color your hair a lot, the hair is used to re-sell to commercial wig/weave makers and the money made goes toward keeping Locks of Love a non-profit and to help fund cancer research. I’m a LOL expert at this point, I grow and chop every 2 years, religiously

I love the new short do! It’s great for summer. I too will be chopping mine off - hopefully pre-honeymoon, like day after the wedding I’ll have an afternoon appt to get the length gone! Sadly though I’m in the process of growing it out - 6 months and counting before I cut it shorter again! I love that you donated the hair too - good for you!
I did this in college after having loooooong hair ever since a disastrous hack job in the 3rd grade (I fully admit keeping my hair long was reactionary). It was awesome getting to donate, although my sister says the pic of me holding the long tail of hair is horribly creepy. ^_^
