Mrs. Joey's Picture
Mrs. Joey, Seattle Age and Occupation: 28, Project Administrator for Public Health NGO Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, High School History Teacher Engagement Date: June 24, 2008 Wedding Date: August 2009 Venue: Eastside Catholic Chapel and Lake Union Cafe About Me: I'm a Seattle girl through and through except for the fact that I don't drink coffee. I love my job most of the time because I get to travel and work with brilliant people who are trying to prevent Malaria. I love DIY projects of all sorts, cooking, and watching sports. I'd wear anything at Anthropologie and could spend all day on Etsy. I love to travel but shouldn't because I always get myself into unbelievable situations!
About Mrs. Joey

I spent a Wednesday night putting our invitations together. We went with an unconventional wedding invitation: a very large poster. I think it’s 9″x21″. Seriously. No reply card or maps were included, just instructions to email RSVPs to our new communal email address.

Roll

Roll (only for out-of-town guests)

Band - I bet you can imagine a rubber band :)

Wrap

Stuff

Label

Repeat - 50 times!

I got the paper lace on Etsy from bookerpie. 12 yards for $3.50? A steal! I put the invitations together while Mr. Joey watched a UW basketball game. He offered his help, but I had fun doing it myself.

The last step in the packaging process was putting on the stamps, but they hadn’t arrived when I was assembling the invites. I found stamps I like, but they weren’t available at my post office. It took a week to get them, but aren’t they super cute?!

My “workstation”

Did you put your invitations together all at once, or in steps? Did you have a team, or did you do it yourself?

Oh, they definitely look like bells to me now! :-) I LOVE the wrap you’re using — is that ribbon?

What a great idea! :) I just sent my Save the Dates out this morning and it took me several nights to finish the product! I kept getting tired of working on it and took way too many breaks!

Wow! These are so unique! I love the paper lace.

I just put my invites together on Monday & Tuesday nights, and mailed them yesterday!

How early are you sending yours out? (Just asking because I know your wedding isn’t until August, but I heard that the postal rate may go up in May.)

Neato! I would do a happy dance to find something as unique and fun in my mailbox.
Just out of curiousity: how many stamps did you have to use on each?

@BeachBrideT: We sent them out already. It’s really early but I travel a lot for work and get about 1 week notice for a months long trip. Something like that throws all the wedding planning off.

Those stamps ARE cute! I’m getting more and more intimidated by my invites…they’re ambitious, and they’ll take up a lot of time!!

I love the flower stamps but they are only 41 cent stamps how many did you have to use?

@Amanda71109: We had to use 5. Postage came to $2.02 a piece but the invites cost less than $3.00 each including all the paper, screen-printing, tubes, paper lace and all the supplies I bought but didn’t use. I probably could have produced them for about $2.00 each if I hadn’t tried to screen-print them myself first.

Wow, that’s such a unique invite! I’ve finished parts of my invitations little by little. I can’t finish it ALL completely because some things need to be finalized. And I’ve been feeling oh-so unmotivated lately. Kudos to you for completing them though! You must feel so relieved! :)
