One Sick Kitten!

Hi Hive!

I know I’ve been MIA lately, but with only a week until my wedding, there is so much I want to share with you!

As you can imagine, the last few weeks before the wedding are filled with last-minute details and projects. And I had the perfect opportunity to tackle these tasks! My law school spring break was three weeks before the wedding–an entire week with no school, and plenty of time to tie up all those loose ends! Unfortunately for me, my body didn’t cooperate with my plan. A week before spring break I came down with a nasty cold. A cold that persisted and developed into bronchitis–keeping me bedridden during spring break. When I first got sick, a terrifying thought ran through my head: What if I got sick on my wedding day? I couldn’t even bear the thought, telling myself that I am sick now and getting it over with, so I won’t be sick on the wedding day!

And now, three weeks later, I am sicker than ever.

It’s been really difficult to muster up the energy to run those critical wedding errands, but by far, the worst part is that I am SO worried that I will still be sick on my wedding day! After over a year of planning this wedding, I am facing the prospect of the whole thing being derailed by a microscopic organism! Right now when I picture our wedding day, I see me standing at the altar and having a coughing fit while saying my vows! Eek! Aside from actually being sick, looking sick is equally as scary! We all want to look our absolute best on our wedding day—which is hard to do when you look tired and sallow!

So, learn from my mistake and take really good care of yourself in the weeks before your wedding! Here is a list of tips. They sound like common sense, but I wish I would have done all of these things when I was running around like a crazy woman three weeks ago! It’s so easy to get consumed with both wedding and other responsibilities and forget about taking care of yourself!

  • Take your vitamins!
  • Eat healthily (lots of fruits and veggies!).
  • Stay far, far away from anyone from anyone who might be sick!
  • Get plenty of sleep (don’t stay up late finishing those wedding projects! They can wait!)
  • If you feel like you might be getting sick, take action immediately! Take a vitamin C supplement, visit your doctor, and take a day off so your body can fight off the oncoming illness!

I know, they sound so common sense! But trust me, it’s so easy to get distracted when the wedding is just a few weeks away! As for me, I am off to the doctor. :)

Do you find yourself getting sick when you’re super busy? What do you do to ward off illness in times of stress?

I always get sick when I take on too much!! Well not always, but everytime I get wick, it is always conencted to stress or overworking myself, so I can see how a wedding can do that to you!

Feel better Miss Kitten! I hope the doc can give you medicine to make you well for your wedding, and TAKE YOUR VITAMINS! Vitamin C can be taken every few hours bc it is water-soluable! Airborne is great for this.

Yes, Miss Kitten, definitely rest up! (And maybe try popping an Airborne? It’s probably the placebo effect, but I like to think it keeps me healthy.)

Feel better soon! Drink plenty of green tea and honey and take vitamin C tablets! (the chewables actually taste good). Drink plenty of fluids too! Wish you a speedy recovery. This strain going around is pretty tough, take it easy and please get enough rest..that’s the only thing that worked for me in the end..

I am going to go to GNC and get (at T’s request) some liquid supplement called “wellness formula?” which looks like some greenish concoction but he hasn’t been sick in 2 years.

My son and I are/were down with bronchitis..Me for last 2 weeks and finishing up antibiotics and son was off from school all this week except for today. I’ve been coughing now for 2 weeks. My 12 yo niece talked to me over the phone and said “you sound RESCUSTING aunt Belle!”lol!

Oh no, bronchitis is no fun!!! Make sure you get lots of rest, as most cases are viral and won’t go away with antibiotics! I hope that you feel better soon!

Bless your heart! You are right-better now than later. I was married at the end of January, and to prepare my bod to fight the winter germs that were invading my office space I started taking echinacea everyday as well as drinking an Emergen-C pack in the morning and one at night. My fear was getting sick during the honeymoon-I always tend to get sick when stress and big projects end, but this method worked well, and I’ve remained cold/flu/general ickiness free! Get well soon!
