The Wedding Rings!

March 27th, 2009 @ 1:55 pm by Mrs. Perfume

while back, I posted about my disappointment with the wedding band our jeweler created. I sent it back and ordered a different (less intricate) one. And after almost a month of back and forth emails and waiting, I got the new one in the mail tonight! It’s a prong-set eternity band. The previous one was more antique-y looking with bead-set milgraining and engraving on the side. This one is a lot simpler, and less vintage looking–and can’t be messed up by the jeweler!

And this is Mr. P’s sleek and tidy little wedding band of palladium. I love his. It has good heft and shine. He got it a while ago with no complaints or fuss. The best part is that it has our wedding date engraved in it. However with mine, because of the holes cut out behind each diamond culet, I couldn’t get engraving.

Here it is with the e-ring. Mr. P thinks it’s too flashy, and it’s not exactly the understated look that I was hoping for. However, I think it will grow on me!

Did you choose a wedding ring style you originally thought you wouldn’t like?

Wow, gorgeous rings!! I had always thought I’d go with a solid metal band, but when I found a diamond & saphire eternity band (on 80% discount, hello!! :) it was easy to change my mind.

How will your engagement ring and wedding band sit together? Does the diamond on the engagement ring overlap the wedding band?

I love your band! And the nice thing is it will look just fab by itself if you ever don’t feel like wearing your e-ring. Stunning!

Thanks, ladies!

@cfitz621: Good question. Yes, it sits under the e-ring, so the stone on the e-ring overlaps the band a little. However–the band is a little thicker than the e-ring, so it doesn’t look that great together when worn!!! So I think I’ll wear the e-ring on my right hand.

I think it’s beautiful together! I have to say, though, I’m still a little partial to the other ring because of the vintage look.

They’re both gorgeous! I wonder how common it is to wear the e-ring on the right hand with the wedding band on the left? I might have to go that route as well, because I can’t find a wedding band to match my e-ring.

Umm, I am in love with your wedding band. Your e-ring is gorgeous too! I’ll probably wear my wedding and e-ring separately too, but I was thinking the wedding band would go on the right hand.

Beautiful!! I’m just trying to figure out the whole wedding band thing — I always wanted my e-ring and my band to fit flush, but my solitaire platinum e-ring is hard to match. I found one ring guard that i liked at Kay’s, of all places, but they only had it white gold. I made the trek to a few other wedding places and spent a long time talking to a guy who tried to tell me it made more sense to either a) reset my e-ring, b) wear it on my right hand, because i really will only be wearing my wedding ring for the next zillion years, not the e-ring. But my mom’s always worn her e-ring… so. Anyway, sorry to blather on!

I’m torn between a classic platinum band with no bling and a blingtastic eternity band not too dissimilar from yours… Your ring is gorgeous, its swaying me :-D

So beautiful!! ARen’t you glad that you spoke up when you did so that you could get exactly what you wanted?? I love my engagement ring so much that I only want a simple plain white gold band to put next to it as to not take away from it.

What a beautiful ring!!! :) We are still hashing ours out… my e ring has been hard to work with! Hopefully we’ll make a decision soon. :)

@Mrs. Champagne: We do!!! I think yours suits your e-ring better than mine though!

@Lillindy: Shhh. Don’t tell Mr. P, but I agree with you. I wish the antique-y one was better made. It would have fit my e-ring better.

@stw: I think about 3mm. But it’s how far it sticks up from the finger that is the problem for me.

@Miss Mascara: That’s neat. I don’t know how it’s usually done, but I’ve seen the e-ring on the right hand. I think Mrs. Emerald blogged about that.

@SmallTownBride: @Miss Taffy: It’s sooo hard to decide, isn’t it?

@JennyBryde: I hear you. I think this ring takes away from the e-ring. Yet another reason to wear them seperately.

I’ve been wearing my engagement ring on the middle finger of my left hand with my wedding band on my left hand ring finger. If yours will fit there, try wearing it there! It combines the bling but doesn’t look as busy as having them on the same finger, nor as separate as when they are on separate hands. Gorgeous choices.
