About Mrs. Gloss

Picture Perfect

March 28th, 2009 @ 2:00 pm by Mrs. Gloss

I can finally cross one item off my never-ending list of things I haven’t done yet…

Picture Perfect : wedding photography G1 g1

Fabulous photographer… CHECK!

I’ve been very excited to talk about this for a while, but I didn’t want to jinx anything. Now that I have sent our deposit in and secured our date, I am proud to present our photographer, Erica Lyn. We are ecstatic to have her photographing our event. She came with excellent referrals from previous clients and was… wait for it… affordable! (In other words, I will NOT have to sell my first born child to be able to have amazing wedding photos.)

She is based out of New York, but she and her family really enjoys Maine and they try to make a trip out of it each summer. They are going to travel up through Maine in August and take amazing pictures of the Glossy wedding on the way. Since she is using our wedding as an excuse for a vacation, she is also not charging us for travel fees!! We are pumped! Well, to be honest, Mr. Gloss doesn’t really care - but he will be pumped when he sees the great pics after!

I’m totally in love with the bright colors and romance in her photos!!

Everyone says it’s very important to meet and ’click’ with your photographer (no pun intended), but we did not meet our photographer. We have exchanged countless emails, and I really think I’m going to be totally happy with her even though everyone says a physical meeting is really important.

Did you meet with all your vendors in person? Did you meet with any you thought you were going to love, and didn’t end up loving?

I met our photog once, but we picked him because he was the absolute best within our photography budget. He has excellent referrals and gorgeous pictures on his website. I am not too worried about it at all…should we be inviting him out for drinks or something to get to know him?? lol

Even though we met ours in person, it was after a long while, and it just happened that they were in town (and yeah, JennyBryde, we invited them for drinks!). I don’t think it’s necessary, just as long as you communicate with them what you want.

we’re meeting our engagement shoot photographer in a few weeks!! so excited! In the age of blogs and twitter and facebook (and, oh yeah, email), I don’t think you’ll have anything to worry about :)

We met our photographer in person…but there were plenty of other vendors that I worked with just over the phone. A good vibe is a good vibe, so go for it!

That’s awesome they waived the travel fees! We didn’t meet out photog in person either, but corresponded quite a bit over email. I feel like we gel, so I can’t wait to meet them in person!

I’ve booked all of my vendors using e-mails and phone calls. I’ll be meeting everyone in a couple of weeks (ONE WEEK to meet them all!! YIKES!). I can’t wait to see how they are in person!!

Hey Ms. Gloss,
I looked at Erica’s webpage briefly last week and forgot to email her for package rates.
So….through your glowing referral of her personality I’m emailing her to see her rates. So thanks!
Do you know if she shoots alone typically?

@ Gerbera: She has packages for single (herself) and secondary shooters. I would definately email her, she was very flexible and accomodating!

We didn’t meet ours, and we are completely comfortable with her… She “got it” in the first few minutes on the phone and her photography spoke for itself.

Fun!!! =D
I’m so OCD that I have to meet all my vendors at least once. It’s hard bc we’re not in state but at least it’s only NYC to Boston and we’re doing whatever we can. Man.. sitting on those buses… lol
