I was so excited the morning of our shower. Everything was really starting to sink in - the wedding is getting close! Mr. Taffy, the Taffettes, and I met up with mom and sister Taffy early to help set things up.

I knew that things would get crazy once the guests arrived, so I tried to organize some pictures beforehand! I am very grateful for the wonderful ladies who took images with my camera during the shower. It was so nice to see everything in action after the afternoon was over!

Taffettes Miss J, A and L. The other half of the wedding party and my other sister Taffy were out of state, but were there in spirit!

Another group shot with my awesome sister Taffy.
We went to work filling the cupcake holders with candy, putting out the Valentine signs, setting up the “cake” favor and seed favor tables, and arranging the cupcakes on a stand. It was fun setting up, and we were finished in time to relax a little before anyone arrived. It also gave me a chance to take pictures of all of mom Taffy’s hard work!
Here is the seed favor display. The baskets and buckets looked really sweet all together.

Behind the seed packages was another decoration; one that my mom made in reference to our invitations. Here is an image of our invitations:

While looking for wooden baskets for the seeds, my mom came across a birdhouse that was the same shape as the one on the invitation. She decided to paint it, add little birds and cherry blossoms, and make it into a display to put on the seed table. Here is a better look:

She asked me to make a little thank you sign for the bird to “hold”, like the “to you” sign on the invite.

The Martha Stewart inspired cake box favors were on another table close by.

Sister Taffy did a fabulous job setting up the cupcake stand and arranging the cupcakes!

I love this picture that Mr. Taffy took, as you can see most everything together.

Phew! Soon, the guests started arriving!

Since we didn’t play any games, I was able to talk with everyone before eating, after eating, and after opening gifts.

Mr. Taffy ate with his parents and aunt. My friends and family were gushing to Mr. Taffy’s mom about how wonderful he is all afternoon! It was very cute, and well deserved.

People had fun choosing their seed packets…

Everyone loved my mom’s lemon & chocolate cupcakes!

And the cupcake holders with Skittles and M&Ms were enjoyed by guests of all ages…

Before we opened gifts, sister taffy handed out the chocolate bird’s nest favors.

Everyone was so thoughtful and generous. I am so happy that Mr. Taffy opened gifts with me, as it made me feel less self conscious!

Future MIL Taffy made us a beautiful blanket!

And we received the “I Love Sugar” cookbook, which I can’t wait to try out!

Remember how I mentioned the pretty vintage gift wrap from Mom & Dad Taffy’s shower? Unbeknownst to me, we had a pretty package wrapped in vintage gift wrap waiting for us!

The giver of the gift explained that it was her mother’s bridal shower-themed gift wrap that she had saved for years. After she saw our vintage invitation, she was compelled to find it and use it to wrap our gift! It was the most thoughtfully wrapped present that I have ever received.

And because I am a huge dork who loves vintage graphics, I have scanned the paper so you can see the details. I am excited to put it in our shower album!

How cute are the umbrellas, ponchos and raindrops? I also love that they all are wearing black shoes.

We were so happy to have all of our friends and family together in one place. Big points go to Mr. Taffy and Future FIL Taffy, who made it through the afternoon with all of the ladies!

They did have another male to bond with close to the end of the shower… my cousin brought his new baby when he came to pick up his wife. We were all thrilled to see them both!

And enormous thanks to my mom, who hosted our shower. She put so much love into the planning, and it was amazing to see her crafty skills emerge after recently retiring.
Now I definitely know where I get my creativity from!

I feel like our shower was like a mini wedding, since almost half of the people (the ladies!) were there to celebrate with us. Did you feel the same about your shower?
