Mr. Tiramisu and I left the Monday morning after our wedding for a honeymoon in French Polynesia!
After two very long and honeymooner-filled plane rides, we were thrilled to land in Tahiti!
We were greeted with flower leis:
Having never been to Hawaii or anywhere else lei-worthy, I was just a little bit excited about that:

We didn’t spend any time in Tahiti itself, but instead went straight to the ferry terminal for a quick boat ride to the nearby island of Moorea. (The Daffodils also honeymooned on Moorea! You can check it out here.)
For the first leg of our trip, we had a beach bungalow at the Sofitel Moorea, which we loved, and highly recommend! As honeymooners we received a bottle of champagne and fresh fruit in our suite upon arrival, a voucher for free drinks at the restaurant, and a thirty-minute couple’s massage at the spa.
There are a ton of things to do in Moorea, but we spent a lot of time just enjoying the lagoon in front of our room:
I could have just laid around on the beach the entire vacation, but Mr. Tiramisu gets so stir-crazy if we’re not doing something at all times! We compromised and did one activity every day and spent either the morning or the afternoon relaxing.
Moorea is the most mountainous of the islands we visited, and we spent one of our afternoons on a hike through the interior. We hired a guide named Hiro to take us from Belvedere Lookout up to the Three Coconut Tree Pass, along with another newlywed couple from France. He was great, and told us all about the gorgeous landscape and history of the island as we hiked.
My name is Mrs. Tiramisu and I enjoy champagne and long walks on the beach.
We ate breakfast every morning at the amazing buffet at the Sofitel, but decided to skip the dinners there so that we could explore restaurants on the island. Our absolute favorite was Te Honu Iti (”The Little Turtle”) where I ate the most amazing filet mignon with champagne sauce… YUM. We’d also recommend Le Mahogany for incredible Chinese food, and Allo Pizza for delicious pizza and fun people watching! And of course, you can’t miss the crepes at Carmeline’s! Mine was stuffed with chocolate and fresh bananas, and it was heavenly.
The night skies in French Polynesia are truly unbelievable. It makes you remember how remote of an island you are on when you see stars that you never knew existed! We tried hard to get a photo to capture it, but this is the best we could do:
I had read a few recommendations before we left for the Dr. Michael Poole Whale Watching Tour. I have been on whale watching tours before that were pretty uneventful, so I didn’t have high expectations for this one. There were so many good reviews of it though, that we decided to give it a shot. I am so glad we did. It. Was. Awesome.
We saw seven humpback whales that at one point got so close to our boat that I was scared they were going to knock us all into the water.
On our last day we rented a car and did a little exploring of the island. Around almost every bend was a new and beautiful view. This little lookout point was one of our favorites:
Next island: Bora Bora!
