About Mrs. Powder Puff

The other day I was innocently flipping through the channels when I came upon the most horrible of all horrible reality TV shows: Surprise Wedding!

The premise? Bring a bunch of wedding-obsessed girls on TV and have them surprise their boyfriends with an ultimatum. Marry me now on this stage! Or else!

When I read the description on the guide, I immediately knew I had to tune in to this train wreck. And boy, was it a twisted, screeching, painful wreck. From the hideous dresses, to the awesomely shocked looks on the unsuspecting guys’ faces, I couldn’t turn away! And being the devoted blogger that I am, I immediately whipped out my camera to capture this for you all.

I Never Knew Reality TV Could Sink So Low : wedding relationships Img 015 Hi honey! Let’s get married!

I Never Knew Reality TV Could Sink So Low : wedding relationships Img 01501 Whaaaaaaa?

Now, I’m of the opinion that this is a TERRIBLE thing to do to someone you love! To bring him on national TV to basically coerce him into marriage… eek!

But, what do you all think? Would you ever surprise your boyfriend with a marriage ultimatum?

It’s a completely lousy thing to do.

Not so much on the other hand because it doesn’t balance out the horror but as an addendum, if the boyfriend of a wedding obsessed woman doesn’t know that she really wants to get married he’s kind of a terrible boyfriend. You’re supposed to be aware of your SO’s significant desires. Granted, you probably don’t expect them to pop up on national TV.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with an ultimatum per se. Sometimes you reach a point in the relationship where it would be detrimental to your own emotional health and future to continue without a deeper commitment from your SO and it’s sensible to let them know. On a tangent, I also think that often by the time the discussion gets to ultimatums the relationship is already dead no matter what he says.

Speaking of ShamWow- that guy was arrested for smacking a prostitute after she bit him. Sham-Oww!

I would like to see the reunion show and count how many are still together

Ahhhhhhh. I almost posted about this after I watched part of it (while rolling on the floor laughing, of course), but I didn’t.

This just gives wedding shows a bag rap. And what was with all of the circa 1980s dresses and accessories? Taccky!

But the most tacky part, of course, was the premise. Shouldn’t it be happy and exciting, not awkwardly drawn out on national television, where your HTB has to make a call to a lifeline to see if he should go through with it? Eww!

Thanks for the great post Powder Puff :)

Hmmm….. I almost gave my boyfriend of 5+years an ultimatim. I was ready for marriage, for children, for us to make a new family. And, I was willing to wait a few years, as long as he thought he might one day be ready for all that.

But before I actually had “the talk”, he proposed, so we really were on the same wavelength.

As for this TV programme specifically - HORRIBLY idea. Train wreck really does sum this up.

The Sham-Wow dude terrifies me! He has a homicidal look in his eyes! (also - have you seen him selling that chopper thing… Did you hear when he said “you’ll love my nuts”? FI & I were ROLLING on the floor laughing at that. :) )

oh goodness. i don’t know what’s scarier, the fact that people get the greenlight for these kinds of projects or the fact that there are people WILLING to sign up for it.

@grumpybear722: that’s probably what he said to the prostitute. hehehe.
