I Want to Hold These!

March 30th, 2009 @ 3:57 pm by Mrs. Ballet Flat

I have a fondness for four flowers: tulips, roses, peonies, and hydrangeas. Tulips are my favorite flower. I just love them! I tried to grow them in my garden, but they died, since I failed to water them often enough through the dry winter. Roses are just classic wedding flowers, and I want to keep the classic element in our florals. Peonies just SCREAM spring to me, so I have to include those. Hydrangeas are close to my heart and sentimental. When I was born, my mom got a hydrangea bush and it bloomed every spring for about 20 years. So, I definitely want those in my bouquet as well.

I mentioned to my florist months ago that this was what I wanted, but I couldn’t find a picture with all four flowers. I guess I’m weird for liking this combination. However, in looking randomly for flower pictures again, I found this:

Though I’m not digging the greenery on top, I’m LOVING this arrangement. I’m not going for those colors (not sure about how that would exactly go with teal and brown), but I’m going to talk to my florist about color/flower options this Wednesday after my (hopefully) FINAL dress fitting! So exciting!! :)

What types of flowers did you have in your bouquet? Did you have sentimental reasons for including certain types of flowers?

I’d love to include peonies as a nod to my great grandmother but sadly they aren’t in season in September.

Are the greenery parts banana leaves? We’re using something similar in some of our centerpiece arrangements!

I love those flowers!, especially peonies, I couldn’t’ get them, (July wedding) but I did have garden roses, hydrangeas, Stephanotis and snapdragons, all in white.
My mom had stephanotis in her wedding bouquet so I had to have those, and snapdragons since I used to play with them as a child and it’s a favorite story of my mom’s. I know she was touched that I included both of them in my bouquet.

Beautiful combo!! Getting married in Spring is the best- we basically have our choice of all the most beautiful flowers!

I love these too! I’m doing something very similar, with blue hydrangea, lavendar roses, pink tulips, and white jasmine. My BMs will have green kermits in place of the jasmine.
I love spring flowers!

I thought about tulips too! We ended up having deep red roses (think black magic) because they’re my favorite! And he had given me a single red rose right before proposing. :)<3

Our flowers will include iris because my aunt Mary had them growing in her yard, and as a nod to our growing up in Louisiana (fleur-de-lis flower) and sweet peas because I call FI sweet pea sometimes.
