Doing My Homework: The Makeup

March 31st, 2009 @ 3:44 pm by Mrs. Joey

Makeup, makeup. What to do about wedding day makeup? I can either go with something a little more natural, or I can go with something a little different. My initial thought was to do something different.

I’m already wearing a short dress and yellow shoes; why not complete the look with something a little more daring on my face? Something like this?

All these option are different for me because I don’t use much shadow. I wear eyeliner (bottom and top lid) and mascara, but that’s it. I love the color on the eyes in all these pictures combined with the nearly nude lips.

I could also break out of my normal routine and go with a dark lip color. I can pull it off with my skin color.

Or I can go with a little more of a natural look with the help of some eyeliner. Maybe something like this?

The last option is to go with something in between. Natural, with a little POP!

all images from project wedding

Both these shots have a more dramatic lash, but less color around the eyes. I’m not sure which direction to go in. Hopefully Ashley and I can try a few.

Are you going with a more natural look, or something a little more daring than usual for your wedding day?

I love the idea of doing a shadow “pop” on you!! With your skin tone it would look fantastic!! I’m sure anything will look great but I esp. love the shadow ones…

i vote Mischa Barton or J.Lo! I love the idea of some color on your eyes. I wouldn’t go with a nude shade but a medium pink maybe.

soo many pretty options!

ooo I love all of it! hahah

now that I’ve read this I wonder if I can go natural for the ceremony and glam for reception - I’m so high maintenance hahah I think they’re both so pretty & fun!

I really love the first two pictures! :) I don’t know if I want smoky eyes or a pinkish bridey look. But I really do want something natural. I don’t wear a ton of makeup and I definitely want to look and feel like me…but BETTER!!

You have really pretty eyes so I vote for really playing them up. I love when brides do something different/dramatic with their wedding day make up. I’ve always been jealous of women with darker skin who can wear bold colors on their eyes. It just looks so great. Either way, you’re gonna look hott.

I always think brides look nice when they go somewhat natural but with a pop! FI said I can do whatever I want with my makeup, but that he’d be disappointed to see me coming down the aisle looking completely different than how I usually look, so I’m going for natural/breathtaking ;)

i think the daring eyes would go fabulously.

a note of caution about dark lips: if you convert yr photos to black & white, a very deep color could turn up as black - making you look like a Goth Bride. so yup, just a tip :)

@mrspaetz: Thanks for the tip. I hadn’t thought about that.
