Glamnuptials: Strike a Pose Part 1

March 31st, 2009 @ 9:31 am by Mrs. Flamingo

Last time we left off, we were in posing mode; first I strutted my stuff, then it was Mr. Flamingo’s turn. Well, my girls (my sisters and cousin) were anxious to take some pictures, so we got ready to strike a pose.

I must admit that I seriously felt like I was cut (Ctrl+C / Apple+C ) and pasted (Ctrl+V / Apple+V) in all the pictures. I felt like I looked like a porcelain doll with the same smile and position, and that the people around me were Photoshopped in. I guess that’s what happens when ALL the pictures are taken in the same place.

My sisters looked so glamorous on our wedding day. I was so happy that they really considered our theme and asked for vintage-inspired hairstyles. They were perfect; just how I like them.

That’s it… we only took pictures in the stairway. When we asked to take pictures in the grass, or somewhere else, the photographer didn’t want to. He said that the sun was too bright, and would create ugly pictures because of the shadows. Are you serious??? Plus, my mom specifically had the grass redone in the front of her house for wedding pictures, so that didn’t work out like she had planned, either.

Off to the church…

I love this next picture of my in-laws and Mr. Flamingo’s 2 little nieces. It was nice to have an “in-the moment” picture of them, since all the other pics were very calculated.

During the ceremony, my gals where having fun snapping pictures. Girls… I’m getting married, and I’m in front of you. :) Aren’t they so beautiful? Someone even pointed out that they looked naked. Bad girls! Not in church!!!

Trying to get everyone together for a group shot was definitely not an easy task… but the outcome was great. Minus the couple of people not looking, or those who have their mouths open. Either way, I love this shot. We are one sexy group!

After the ceremony, we were off to take some pictures at The Manoir Globensky. I happened to get married on a holiday weekend, which now that I think about it, wasn’t the best idea ever. Saint-Jean Baptiste weekend (sort of like the U.S.’s Independence Day à la Quebecois) is the most celebrated holiday here in Quebec. It’s filled with local artistes, fireworks, and lots and lots of blue and white flags.

When I called the city to see whether I could take pictures at the Manoir, they told me there was no problem. I asked them again, knowing that it was a holiday, and they reassured me. Well, as we arrived, the entranced was blocked and we couldn’t get in. Security guards were blocking the road and told us we couldn’t pass because of the National Holiday. Crap crap crap!

I was furious. I specifically called to make sure there wouldn’t be any problems, and then exactly what they said wouldn’t happen, happened! Luckily, one of the organizers saw my worried face, and gave us a green light to snap some pictures quickly. Don’t you just love people like that? Thank you, sir!

(Notice the blue and white flags in the background? Hurray for National Day! ;) )

Trying not to push our luck too much, we snapped a couple of pictures. And when I say a couple, I am not over-exaggerating. ;) One of the girls mentioned that there was a nice little bench across the street overlooking a river. I never noticed this little spot when I was looking for nice places for pics. It was like it was meant to be, so off we went.

Guys have nothing to worry about, really. They simply smile, and there you have it. When it came time for the girls to pose, we were checking our teeth, re-applying our gloss, fixing our dresses…

But it was worth it in the end…

I love the dresses your girls are wearing, and eventhough you were unhappy with your photog you all look really amazing in the pictures that you did get.

The photog DIDN’T WANT to take photos in the lawn??? FIRED!! FIRED!! FIRED!!
I would be a total bridezilla and INSIST on photos elsewhere, who doesn’t at least placate the bride and take some shots??

Boo. That’s so lame about your photographer! I think the photos look great regardless!

I also really like your BM dresses - they’re really pretty!

I loved my bridesmaid dresses. It kind of worked out that my older sister no longer fit in the first dress we had originally purchased. :D

Oh and my sisters insisted to wear their straps differently (so be a little different)

Halter, strapless, crossed in front and Crossed in back ;)

That’s totally bogus of your photog to not take pictures where you wanted! Not cool at all!!

But you and your party still look BEAUTIFUL regardless!!

What a horrible photog! You’re the customer and the bride and paying them to do a job! But you have fabulous pics nevertheless!

Question - where did your mom get her pink dress? I’m in the middle of the hunt for my moms dress. I want her in something not typical MOB. Our colors are orange, pink and yellow so that dress would tie in perfectly without being too much.

@Steph921: My mom had purchased her dress from Sears I believe. They have some great dresses for real cheap!

I’m so sorry about your stinky photographer. We got ready at my grandma’s house and she re-did her front yard landscaping just for us to take some pictures and wouldn’t ya know…I had the same problem as you and we don’t have a single picture of anyone out there.

Despite the fact that your photographer stunk, you’re still quite stunning in all your photos!

I love love love your BM dresss - almost the same with just subtle differences! I’m so sorry you had an unhelpful photographer as well. Geez, if photographers could never take pics in the sun you’d never GET any!
