Would You Change It if You Could? : wedding budget Lottery

As I was driving to work today, I passed a billboard announcing the weekly Mega-Millions Lotto amount. We buy tickets sometimes when the prize gets up there (20 million+ only, because really, what would we do with a measly 8 million?! Ha!). Since I had another hour and a half to go before I reached my destination, the wheels really started turning. If we won the lottery tomorrow, how would our wedding be different?

Well, after I thought about it for a while, I realized that I really wouldn’t change much! Although, I wouldn’t worry about the ridiculous cost of linens as much, and would probably upgrade to the coveted Chivari chair. But really I love everything we have done so far!

Would You Change It if You Could? : wedding budget Chivari01 I wouldn’t change our venue to some amazing and luxurious ballroom with a plated six-course meal from some famous chef, nor would I buy a dress from the upscale Vera Luxe collection.

I might change our invitations to letterpress - just because it is soo delicious. But really—raised or indented, our guests won’t care.

I would hire a day-of coordinator just to ensure everything flows smoothly, and someone to apply makeup to my face since I rarely do… and I’d fly in Still Motion for the most amazing videography ever. But really, these things will not make or break my day; they’d just make it a little more amazing.

Well, to be honest, if Still Motion was there, I might just have heart palpitations, but other than that, I could be a millionairess and I would still want to get married on our boat, with my family and closest friends standing beside us, with the details that I lovingly crafted myself—and that is very comforting to know.

Would your wedding be vastly different if you won the lottery? What would you change?

I’ve thought about this myself, and I’ve decided that I wouldn’t want to change anything. I’m happy with the simple, handcrafted feel of the wedding and anything too fancy wouldn’t have felt like us. I guess I would have paid for all of my guests hotel accomodations and thought up a few more ideas to make things better/easier for them.

I probably would have hired a different photographer, although I loved the photogs we had! I guess the one thing that I really absolutely would have changed was completely customize the dessert/appetizer buffet to items that I really wanted instead of just accepting what the venue had to offer as a compromise. Other than that I would have kept things small and intimate, just like it was :)

Haha as soon as I saw your post I thought ’silver chiavari chairs’ then after the jump there they were! I think the chairs were the only big thing missing from our day that I (still) lament not having. Oh and more appetizers during cocktail hour because our guests devoured them before everyone could get one.

I’d have a photobooth and probably a Coldstone ice cream station b/c that would be FLIPPING awesome! I’d also fork over more money for church arrangements. :)

I wouldn’t do too much different except,

-Now I wouldn’t have to wait to book a honeymoon
-I would be able to arrange place for my 30 Irish relatives that are flying in
-I would hire a videographer.

I can’t admit I wouldn’t change anything…

We are already getting married in a beautiful garden but the venue only offers white plastic chairs, if I had it my way I would, too, want the medium-brown colored Chivari chairs as it matches the outdoor elements so much more than white does and makes it look so “easy.”

I would also:

- add white ceiling drape to my entire reception venue
- fly all my friends/BMs out too Vegas for 4-5 days for my Bach party
- Fuller flower arrangements for centerpieces
- OPEN BAR (it is not common around here in the Midwest)
- candles strewn up the stairway of our reception venue
and…
- while I love my gown, I always dreamed of Monique or Priscilla of Boston :)

I wouldn’t really change anything, just add more things like more food, open bar, more flower arrangements and I my guest list would def go up.

Oooh…I don’t know if I would make any major changes, but just some nice upgrades. :-) I would probably hire a decorator/florist to turn our ceremony location into something amazing. I’m not really sure how awesome it will look with the decorations I bought and plan to use. I’d also rent some really nice linens instead of using the plain white ones provided by our venue. I would probably have a seated dinner instead of a buffet and have a live band instead of a DJ. It’s fun to think about the what ifs. My co-workers and I do this when the Powerball gets really high.

I would just quit my job so I can focus on the wedding full time then travel to all my friends weddings in the summer/fall after mine.

I wouldn’t change anything…I’d use the money for stuff like house upgrades! The home we will raise our family in is more important than the wedding day ultimately. I might upgrade my jewelery and buy myself a matching real diamond necklace though!

I would definately help people with travel arrangements since they all have to come to us. Other than that, everything is perfectly us in our little budget… the main thing that would change would be that WE would not let my parents pay…or if they refused…we would send them on a AMAZING “thank you” vacation!

I love my venue so wouldn’t change that. I would fly all of our OOT guests in and put everyone up for the night in our hotel. Also would pay for all my BM dresses etc.

I would also get letterpress, hire a DOC, and upgrade our menu a bit.

Also we would go on a 5 star honeymoon and spare no expense : )

In general, I would be less stressed about the budget!

Man, now I need to go buy a lottery ticket!

Hmm…I’m already putting everyone up in a hotel, staying in a castle on our wedding night, paying for the lush dinner, open bar…what would I change??? I didn’t spend money on linen rentals (I don’t think anyone notices or cares…), I DIYed my STDs and invites (but I love them), and our honeymoon is scheduled in Hawaii…
I think I’m a wierd bride…those chairs just don’t do it for me. Nor chair covers. All you see is the guest in the chair anyway (see I have no attention to detail!).
I guess I would pay for limos for everyone. Or Rolls Royce trx. Yeah!
I’d also pay for a big huge double vow renewal for my bros and SILs!

I would totally pay for everyone to stay at the ranch we’re getting married at. It’s quite expensive and would be SO nice to have everyone there.

I would totally also fly out Duff from Charm City Cakes to make my cake… duh!

Great post Gloss!! I would get an amazing caterer specializing in seafood, and have a real Maryland seafood feast! Also Chivari chairs, but of course. I would definitely get a Coordinator, and probably a videographer too. The only significant change I would make would be to take off work for a couple months and travel the world with my new husband for our honeymoon.

But I am with you, there wouldn’t be any significant changes to the plan, although I would give at least 500k to my venue so they could put in a kitchen and elevator before the wedding!

I would also fly my guests in. I might consider doing another destination if I could spend money to let more guests come. For the ceremony itself - nothing.
