After two years, he moved to my neck of the woods, and a year and a half after that, he proposed at the “place we fell in love.” I am a true perfectionist who enjoys designing and creating more work for myself, so wedding planning is my perfect outlet. Mr. Cupcake and I are both old souls, and we hope to weave that aspect of our personalities into our wedding day.

Although we spent months planning “the party”, we all know that what truly matters on the wedding day is the ceremony. It felt so surreal to hear the organ playing as my bridesmaids walked down the aisle and I made my way to the door of the sanctuary, arms linked with my parents’ — my mom to my left and my dad to my right.
Today’s wiki is Reading. I remember searching for readings for Mr. Penguin’s and my ceremony, and it took me quite a while to find ones to fit our style and personalities. I traded long lists of readings with other engaged readers, but always wished that there was a one stop resource on the web. By contributing to the wiki, we can make it happen!
What readings will you have at your ceremony? Have you heard a great passage that maybe didn’t fit your wedding, but you’d like to share it with others? If you’ve come across a great excerpt from a book, quote, or resource for readings, add it to the wiki!
If you’re unsure how you can contribute to the wiki, take a peek at this wiki article on how to edit a wiki. Check it out and share your expertise! Or, if you’re shy, just leave your tips in the comments, and we can add them to the wiki for you!
Mrs. Mascara, Chicago/Upper MichiganAge and Occupation: 25, Biomedical EngineerFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Process EngineerEngagement Date: July 27, 2008Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: Catholic ceremony, reception at local armoryAbout Me: A lover of Mr. Mascara, crafting, baking, Gossip Girl, diet soda, and all things wedding. A Yooper girl somehow displaced in the Chicago suburbs, planning a wedding from a distance, and counting down the days until I marry my best friend.
My future sisters-in-law informed me this week that they’d like to throw a shower for us. We figured out a date that would work best, and now it’s official. They’ve asked me to put a list together of girls I want to invite, so that’s on my to-do list in the next few days. Is it bad that I don’t have a guest list yet but I do have a dress to wear? I picked this up at Banana Republic, and it was on sale! It was originally $150, but was on sale for $69.99. Add 10% off for using my BR card, plus another 15% off with my “pick your own sale” card, and I paid under $50 for it. Not too bad! I wish I would’ve been able to get there last week when they had their friends and family sale, but that just didn’t happen. Now I just have to find a cute pair of shoes and some jewelry to match, and I’ll be all set!

I love my job most of the time because I get to travel and work with brilliant people who are trying to prevent Malaria. I love DIY projects of all sorts, cooking, and watching sports. I'd wear anything at Anthropologie and could spend all day on Etsy. I love to travel but shouldn't because I always get myself into unbelievable situations!
I’m horrible at making decisions. I think about them too long and change my mind constantly. If I didn’t have my panel, I probably would have bought 10 pairs of yellow heels before I actually made a decision — on the day of my wedding. When I was designing our invitations, I made 6 different variations of the same design and couldn’t pick between them until my panel stepped in.
The only permanent member of my panel is my friend and old roommate Katie. She and I lived together (and barely survived) at grad school in Manchester, England. We did almost everything together. She has great style and is now working at Echo in New York. I trust her to tell me the truth and I trust her style. We do everything by email and the arrangement works great.

I dislike touching fuzzy fabric of any kind, eating somewhat squishy food, and Michigan winters. Mr. Taffy and I are having a blast planning our Ann Arbor wedding, and cannot wait to share our day with friends and family.
Mom Taffy threw us a wonderful shower this past weekend. Now that it is over, I can share all of the fun details here, many of which could be easily transferred to wedding favors and decor. Mom Taffy is one seriously crafty lady! But first, I will share our wonderful shower invitations with you. I have been dying to post about these since the day that we stumbled upon them!
Do you remember the cute vintage valentine that I gave to Mr. Taffy this year? While browsing at the same antique store, my mom and I found an unopened package of these shower invitations that were in perfect condition:
I’m planning a bachelorette for my best friend and she had mentioned having her friends all go out for a nice dinner and drinks. I want to send out printed invitations, but I’m not sure how to word them so that the guests understand that they have to pay their own way. I wish I had enough money to cover the whole bill, but it’s just not possible.

I’m nothing short of obsessed with wedding planning, and am loving the do-it-yourself madness that has now taken over my life! As for me, I’m a craft-loving, martini-drinking, girly-girl who loves traveling, photography, my schnauzer, and above all, spending time with Mr. Tiramisu.
No, this is not a post about THAT! (I’ll leave that to you Miss Cheese!)
What I’m talking about is a little tradition that started in my group of friends back in 2006 when my friend L got married. I arranged to steal the key to their hotel room and set Mr. Tiramisu up with the task of decorating it for them. He set up rose petals, bubble bath, and candles in the room for them, and gave the hotel staff a bottle of champagne to put on ice and place in their room right before they got back. Take a look at his handiwork:
Mrs. Perfume, DCAge and Occupation: 36, Consultant (and Part-Time Professor)Fiance's Age and Occupation: 41, ConsultantEngagement Date: May 13, 2008Wedding Date: May, 2009Venue: The Homestead, Hot Springs, VirginiaAbout Me: I'd like to think that I'm a modern day Little Edie Beale. Only not as..."talented". More realistically, I'm a foodie who can't bake; a dancer and dilettente; an art collector with a penchant for the whimsical and subversive. I live in the city and adore the country, but not much in between. I like smart design, great craftmanship and good value. Most of all, I love the new vintage aesthetic: classic, sweet, delicate, bespoke. If I had to do it all over again, I'd go for a culinary arts degree rather than a PhD; but wouldn't trade Mr. P for the world.
A dining room worker apparently shot and killed two of his supervisors at our reception venue’s main kitchen last night before fleeing the scene. Ironically, guests in the dining room did not hear the gunshots as the band was playing (they have an old timey band that plays at dinner time).
HOT SPRINGS, Va. — Authorities in Virginia were searching Sunday for a resort employee suspected of shooting and killing two of his supervisors in the hotel kitchen while guests ate dinner in a nearby dining room.
Two kitchen workers were shot and killed around 8 p.m. Saturday at The Homestead luxury resort in the Allegheny Mountains near the West Virginia state line, Bath County Sheriff Larry Norfleet said. No one else was injured, and hotel spokeswoman Carol Stratford said no guests were present at the scene of the shooting.
Looks like resorts aren’t immune to disgruntled employees…
Would you be worried if this happened at your venue?

So now we just have to make it through the craziness of the wedding and the moving in together! I love crafts, sewing, jewelry making, and photography, so am looking forward to this chance for DIY fun. When not wedding planning, I'm playing with our dog and 4 cats, Ebay shopping, or watching too much TV (often simultaneously!).
One year ago yesterday, we stood before family and friends and pledged to love one another, whatever life may bring. Just a few weeks later, life brought changes we never could have expected. Thank you for taking it all in stride, and for holding me close when I could not do the same.
After all that has happened, I love you even more than I did last March 22. And I pray that every year we will be able to say the same. Happy anniversary, Mr T!

HouseAbout Me: I’m a self-proclaimed grammar geek who loves singing (like, really belting it) in the car. My mister and I are planning a vibrant summer soiree celebrating our passions – including food and Philly – and when we make it official, we’ll have been together for eight years! Being super competitive is in my nature, and talking excessively is in my genes. I’ve got a terrible sense of direction, but can always easily find my way into Mr. Bruschetta’s arms.
We snapped up our photographer (and bonus photographer!) mere months after getting engaged. So, it felt like an interminably long time until we reached the end of summer 2008, when we planned to take our engagement pictures.
I passed the months sinking deeply into a blogging addiction: Food, photographers, weddings. You name it, I read it! Inspired by great outfits, unique settings and fun props, I carefully planned out our session.
We began at Reading Terminal Market. On a weekday. During lunch. Chaotic doesn’t even get close to describing what that place was like! From the first click of the camera, people kept coming up to ask if we were famous. Ever the ham, I was surprised to find myself self-conscious and nervous in front of the lens. At times, my awkwardness translated into less than flattering photos — but we still ended up with a ton of great pictures we love!
(All pictures are from Cindy Patrick Photography. I also owe a special thank you to Mrs. Avocado, for patiently walking a very clueless Miss Bruschetta through the necessary steps to edit HTML and present such amazingly huge pictures to the hive!)
Okay, enough chatter for now. I’m going to let the pictures do the talking!

We’ve featured so many beautiful and inspirational wedding pictures over the years, and we’ve always wanted to create a way to highlight even more. Then we had a bit of an epiphany last week and realized that we could adapt our message board software to power a picture gallery!

I couldn't live without Pantone markers, fountain soda (3/4 diet, ¼ regular Coke), run-on sentences, or ridiculously oversized sunglasses. I will try to DIY almost anything and am just OCD enough to make most of it work. I am truly excited about having all my family and friends together, becoming Mrs. Gloss, and having amazing photos to prove it!

I speak Italian and love pasta. My real passion is the outdoors, though. When I'm not at work, I'm snowboarding, hiking with my two dogs, mountain biking, surfing, cross-country-skiing, or boating New Mexico's rivers. Despite my boyish love for adventure, I'm a girly-girl at heart and am overly-excited to pull off the romantic, vintage-inspired, country wedding of my dreams.
Last time, I blogged about rounds one and two of our save-the-date custom design process with stationer and Gocco master Sarah Parrott.
It was on round three that Sarah sent us our winning choice. After round two, I sent her a list of what I wanted to change (which wasn’t much). Our main debate was over color. We had her replace some of the yellow with shimmery gold, and then some of the shimmery gold with chestnut brown. In the end, we only ended up with a tiny bit of shimmery gold, and mostly brown ink. Without further ado:

I find any excuse I can to craft something and am completely infatuated with the 1950’s, all things Kennedy, and my furbaby Vida.
This weekend has been a complete whirlwind of shopping, crafting, and way more shopping! Now that we are under the one month mark I feel a bit of a fire under me to start knocking out and finishing up all the DIY projects that I had on the back burner. Since I haven’t done anything crafty in a couple of months, to ease myself back in I decided to knock out all of the signage yesterday afternoon.

Friday was our sixth-month wedding anniversary. A small milestone, for sure, but a milestone nonetheless! I was pleasantly surprised when I came home from work to this:
