I love my job most of the time because I get to travel and work with brilliant people who are trying to prevent Malaria. I love DIY projects of all sorts, cooking, and watching sports. I'd wear anything at Anthropologie and could spend all day on Etsy. I love to travel but shouldn't because I always get myself into unbelievable situations!
So, I did it! I bought our honeymoon tickets! I’ve been monitoring ticket prices to Sydney for a few weeks now and they slowly have been going up a few bucks everyday. Mr. Joey and I were talking about it last night and he suggested that I just buy the tickets now. We know we’re going and we know the dates, so what was stopping us? So I did it. I bought the tickets.

I can make that!' Nerdy professional by day, goofy won-ton by night. The won-ton sometimes comes out during the day when I'm fed the dollar breakfast at Ikea. Since our engagement, wedding planning has put me on high alert for bargains and I've been pushing my nimble fingers through callous building experiments!
Come toast time, all I heard was ’wonka wonk wonk wonka wonk…’
Who doesn’t wish for a fantabulous toast on their wedding day? But the truth is, only few of us are blessed with close friends who’ve got great speech writing or public speaking talent, let alone the combination! Read more…

There’s something about a hand-addressed envelope in a pretty font that makes me swoon. While definitely not necessary, calligraphy can add a little extra elegance to an invitation suite or an escort card. I’ve been drawn to calligraphy ever since I was little. My aunt even bought me a calligraphy book for my birthday one year when I was about 10, and I practiced until I ran out of ink! Lately I’ve been drawn to less traditional forms of calligraphy. I love how these invitations found on Brooklyn Bride are addressed. They look casual and slightly messy, like the person who addressed them wasn’t even trying to make it look pretty. And I love the look of using all lowercase letters.

Mrs. Latte, Boston/NYCAge and Occupation: 29, College Admissions CounselorFiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Elementary School TeacherEngagement Date: August 23, 2008Wedding Date: July 2009Venue: Stage 6 at Steiner StudiosAbout Me: I am an East Coast girl marrying a West Coast boy. After 2 years of over 3,000 miles between us, Mr. Latte and I are looking forward to finally living in the same time zone/coast/city/home and living “normal couple” lives. I am a crafter at heart and enjoy dragging my friends into new craft projects. I love my Mac, baking cupcakes, wrapping presents, my BlackBerry, naps, good NY style pizza, Jack Bauer and of course, Mr. Latte. I love him a latte. :)
I am not a morning person. I’m a professional snoozer and (too) often wake up late. But there are a couple of things that will get me out of bed in the morning: the smell of a strong cup of latte, and the hope and promise of a good sale! Set that alarm for a good black Friday sale and I’ll wake up smiling. Get up super early to run like a crazy lady for a fabulous dress? No problemo.
Yesterday I woke up BEFORE my alarm, showered, and got ready in record time for a sale like none other… the Priscilla of Boston Blowout Sample Sale! OK, I can see you now… shaking your head and pointing your finger at the screen. I know you’re thinking that I’m some crazy wedding gown maniac who should be banned from all dress stores. What the heck is this 2 1/3 dress bride doing at yet another wedding gown sale???
Well, it wasn’t for me, I promise!!! I accompanied my newly-engaged co-worker to the sale! This lucky lady is just starting the wedding planning process, and what better place to start than finding the dress!

I am a geek and apply game theory to my everyday life. Winter is my favorite time of year, especially when spent curled up with good coffee and a book by Madeleine L'Engle.
My mom and I are planning a bridal shower for my brother’s fiancee. My own shower had a theme of “Around the Clock”, where guests brought gifts that corresponded with something that I would be use at that time of the day.
But we’re stuck on what to do as a theme for the shower. Her mother throws fabulous tea parties, so that is out. We’re planning on having it on a Saturday afternoon in May.
So, what was the best themed shower that you have been to?

HouseAbout Me: I’m a self-proclaimed grammar geek who loves singing (like, really belting it) in the car. My mister and I are planning a vibrant summer soiree celebrating our passions – including food and Philly – and when we make it official, we’ll have been together for eight years! Being super competitive is in my nature, and talking excessively is in my genes. I’ve got a terrible sense of direction, but can always easily find my way into Mr. Bruschetta’s arms.
I first started having issues in spring 2007, as Mr. Bruschetta and I were training for our first 5K. Three strikes — improper technique (yup, I was a toe runner), unfamiliar terrain (I had been on an inside track, and transitioned too quickly to an asphalt path) and a falling arch (my Achilles heel, if you will) — left me limping along with shin splints mere days before the run. I couldn't live without Pantone markers, fountain soda (3/4 diet, ¼ regular Coke), run-on sentences, or ridiculously oversized sunglasses. I will try to DIY almost anything and am just OCD enough to make most of it work. I am truly excited about having all my family and friends together, becoming Mrs. Gloss, and having amazing photos to prove it!
When I asked my bridesmaids to be, well, bridesmaids, I said the only thing I truly cared about was:
That they show up
That they would be kind enough to remove any errant baby’s breath or carnations from ANYWHERE that I could possibly see.
Well, hours of perusing wedding blogs has altered my opinions. There are many carnation bouquets tightly wrapped together that look so stunning, like this one. (I’m still not really sold on carnations as singular entities, but in bulk they do wonders.) Read more…

I speak Italian and love pasta. My real passion is the outdoors, though. When I'm not at work, I'm snowboarding, hiking with my two dogs, mountain biking, surfing, cross-country-skiing, or boating New Mexico's rivers. Despite my boyish love for adventure, I'm a girly-girl at heart and am overly-excited to pull off the romantic, vintage-inspired, country wedding of my dreams.
When I first saw Sarah Parrott’s portfolio on Etsy.com, I loved the vintage feel of her Goccoed stationery. Tandem bicycles, lots of flowers, trees, and birds whizzed about her many custom creations. See some of her work below:

I know you guys are really sick of my mug, but I recently had my makeup done for a press video (that I’ll blog about later) by Sachiko Yanase (who did Mrs. Orange’s wedding day hair and makeup). Sachiko was an absolute doll to work with. I learned some great tips from her, so I had to share!
I asked her for a very natural look, and these are the products she used: Read more…

I’ve been resisting Yoga for several years. I have no idea why, but I have. I’m weird, I know. I’ve tried DVDs and Yoga on our Wii Fit, but I think they just discouraged me from taking a class. The Wii Fit was okay, but doing the DVDs just hurt my knees.
A few months back, I was talking to a friend from LA who teaches Yoga, and she suggested I try a class just to learn proper form and the basics. She said it would help my knees. I took her advice and enrolled at this great local studio, 8 Limbs Yoga. The instructor was awesome. She went slow, focused on form, breathing, and other basics (like standing and sitting up straight) and was really attentive to everyone.
To describe our wedding, all I have to say is YELLOW!! We wanted yellow everywhere. Yellow makes people happy, and being a fashion designer, I knew that yellow was the trending color of the season. At the time, I was designing for famed fashion store Anthropologie so I wanted a rustic, vintage look.

When it comes to card boxes, I only know what I don’t want. I don’t want to make a box that looks like a cake, and I certainly don’t want to buy a wooden card box that I won’t have use for after the wedding. I was thinking some kind of vase or basket for the cards would be fine. Today while browsing the sale items at CB2, I found this green side table.

I plan on DIYing my little heart out (or as much as a suitcase to Jamaica will hold).

Our invites!
I worked with an amazing Etsy designer, Karen of mtkdesigns, to design our invitation suite, programs, and menus. If you are thinking of DIYing your invites, but need help with the graphics, this is THE WAY TO GO! We went back and forth until things were exactly to our liking and then she emailed us the file as a .jpeg and .pdf! Easy! I printed these out on our awesome color copier at work (with approval, bien sur!), then the girls and I went to town assembling them. Read more…
