I saw this picture of pashminas in a basket, and now I must have them at the wedding. Luckily for me, I live in NYC and can get them for less than $5 each. I am only going to get around 15 total. The idea is not to have one for everyone at the wedding, but just enough for those that might need them.
Reader jbfisher928 is selling 7 sets of Ann Taylor necklaces and earrings. They would make great gifts for your bridesmaids! The necklaces are 16 inches long, with 2 inch adjustable chains. She is asking for $35 per set.

Or how to NOT get fried during your destination wedding.
Or justifying all of the above in the simple act of vanity.
I’ll just come out and say it (and I know it isn’t a popular decision) – I have been tanning in preparation for our Jamaican celebration. (Now before anyone berates me for doing this, trust me that I’ve already done it to myself plenty of times.) I am pale. All year round. And I am totally fine with that. Let me start of by saying that, when in the Caribbean sun, I don’t tan – I red. Without a base color established prior to our departure, my only viable option to a) not fry and b) not get tan lines, is to hole up in our room the entire time. No thank you! With or without a wedding, I am the girl on the beach with a huge floppy hat (no premature wrinkling for me, thank you!), SPF 50 reapplied obsessively every hour, under an umbrella. I love the sun and the beach, but I try to enjoy it responsibly.
Moving on. I think I’ve been tanning a total of 4 times in my life. Perhaps once before prom and a couple of times my freshman year of college (at a place where they only had a curtain across the door opening for “privacy”. That could be why I never went back?). So, I bought a package at Palm Beach Tan and have been pleasantly surprised with the gradual results. I’ll only go in for 5 minutes at a time because I do NOT want to get burnt. But I feel gradually stepping up the number of minutes over the next 2 months will give me a nice glow for the wedding day. I love the way I look with a tan and don’t want to be a ghost in my dress.

During dessert, we invited our guests to witness our license signing. So, as they sipped on French-pressed coffee and savored the baked goods, we called them to gather ’round, and then we took one of the final steps toward making our marriage official.
There was no real ceremony to it - we simply set our Flathead County marriage license on the now-empty buffet table, brought over our official witnesses and officiant, and got out a fancy pen. Then, after Cathy filled in the blanks with her lovely, legible printing, we all signed on the dotted line!

Have you sent in your entry for our amazing Kathlin Argiro bridesmaid dress giveaway yet? Up to 5 bridesmaid dresses or a rehearsal dinner dress could be yours, courtesy of Kathlin Argiro! You still have until this Friday, March 13, to enter, so send us your entries featuring an inspiration board or a Polyvore board using one of Kathlin’s dresses to guest at weddingbee.com.
Today we’re featuring Theresa’s entry, “Delicately Pink Wedding”.

Theresa writes, “Usually I’m not a pink girl. But Kathlin Argiro’s “Blake” pink lace dress with satin sash around the waist really inspired me to create this inspiration board that I call “Delicately Pink Wedding”. It’s a grown-up kind of pink wedding palette where the soft pink hue is paired with a bolder silhouette as reflected in the choice of jewelry/accessories and the reception/ceremony setting, but still utilizes simple lines when necessary, like in the print works and cake. The balance between the bold and the simple creates the effect of pink as a symbol of delicate womanly maturity, as opposed to merely girly blissfulness.”

I’m not a huge drinker, but my favorite drink is the Classic Pimm’s Cup. What is Pimm’s? Well, it is gin-based beverage that can be served either on ice or in cocktails. It has a dark tea color with a reddish tint, and tastes subtly of spice and citrus fruit. It’s a very English drink, but the Napoleon House in New Orleans makes a killer version! I love it with a little lemonade and a few cucumber sticks.
So when we started talking about doing signature drinks, my first thought was that mine would be a classic Pimm’s Cup.

As the guys waited outside of the hotel for the ladies, everyone grabbed a hold of their flowers and got ready to make their way out of my suite; my mom, my dad and I waited for the phone to ring, which was Jenn’s signal that Mr. Cupcake and the bridal party had left the premises and I could leave the hotel without being spotted!

Our summer celebration will carry from the suburbs to the city, so we wanted to provide a bit of background about why we chose two (very different) areas for our wedding day.

Mr. Ballet Flat and I will be honeymooning in Orlando. For the majority of the honeymoon, we decided to stay in a vacation home.
Since we are road tripping it to Orlando, which is a good 8-9 hours away from New Orleans, we definitely want to rest up the night of our wedding so we can hit the road well-rested the next morning. We were originally looking at hotels in Biloxi, Mississippi, because it’s not too far from New Orleans at all and would shave an hour or so off the travel time for us the next day. Plus, their casino hotels, for the most part, are pretty nice. The problem? These hotels wanted upwards of $400/night, and that’s a little over budget for us.
So, we decided to try Priceline to bid on a nice 4 star hotel. We have used Priceline for mini vacations that we have taken before and have been really satisfied with the hotels.
Priceline is really easy to use. You just name your city and date, then click on the type of hotel you want (1,2,3,4 star), choose the area of the city you want to stay in, name your price, and let Priceline do the work. The only risk is you are obligating yourself to whatever hotel takes your bid, so it can be a shot in the dark. However, if you choose a higher star hotel, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about, since those are known as nicer hotels.

Hopefully, if you’ve got a hidden gem near your hometown, you can share it with us in the wiki!

There are moments that I really regret the dress I chose for my ’maids to wear.
All of our attire (my dress included) was picked out before we headed down the vintage road. Sometimes I really wish I had held off on picking out our dresses. Don’t get me wrong, I love them, but I certainly wish they were a little more vintage than they are.
As a reminder, here is my dress:

Alfred Angelo’s 1136 in champagne. I love this dress. Not vintage, but whatever.

Welcome ladies! We look forward to seeing you on the boards!
With less than three months before the wedding, we finally have confirmation that we have a place for the rehearsal dinner!! In fact, it’s such an awesome venue that if I could rewind a year and re-pick our wedding venue, this is where we’d actually host the wedding reception (but don’t tell).
Our goal was to find something casual, fun, and within walking distance of the hotel. We decided early on that we’d invite all 60 guests, because 55 of them are from out of town. Unfortunately, everything by our hotel is pretty pricey and formal, so we had a really tough time finding something casual where we could all fit.
The first place we looked into was Epic Roasthouse. Originally we checked it out for the wedding. The view is breathtaking, and it was a fantastic second choice, but nothing about it was casual, and it was a bit pricey. The scariest part is that drinks are per consumption, so we’d have no idea how much the whole thing would cost until the end of the night. I realize this is common for a wedding, but we wanted no surprises!!
Here’s a Hot Cocoa-ism: Craptastic (adj.) = full of awesomely cheap knick knacks.
Craptastic is one of the highest honors I can bestow on a place of shopping. Hong Kong: craptastic. Bangkok: craptasticler. Saigon: craptasticest.
Today, I bestow this adjective on the Christmas Tree Store, where I bought the items for our guestbook vignette.
I’m finding myself checking my 2 registries daily (if not several times a day). I think it’s a bad idea, but I just find myself drawn to the sites…
Even worse, amazon.co.uk has an option where you can see WHO gave you what gift. Thus far, I have managed to stay away from that option, but it’s calling me.
Are you all drawn to check up on your registries? Do you think it’s a good or bad idea?
