About Me: I don't like nickels or the skin that forms on pudding when it's in the fridge for too long. I couldn't live without Pantone markers, fountain soda (3/4 diet, ¼ regular Coke), run-on sentences, or ridiculously oversized sunglasses. I will try to DIY almost anything and am just OCD enough to make most of it work. I am truly excited about having all my family and friends together, becoming Mrs. Gloss, and having amazing photos to prove it!
Threading is an ancient Middle Eastern method of hair removal where a technician uses cotton thread (like something you would sew with), which is twisted and rolled over the hair. (I’ve only witnessed eyebrows and mustaches done, but I would imagine it would work most anywhere). As the thread rolls, it plucks the hair. Threading can remove an entire row of hair at one time (as opposed to tweezing, which pulls one hair at a time), resulting in a really straight line.
Every time I try something new I always ask, “Does it hurt?”

About Me: I’m a self-proclaimed grammar geek who loves singing (like, really belting it) in the car. My mister and I are planning a vibrant summer soiree celebrating our passions – including food and Philly – and when we make it official, we’ll have been together for eight years! Being super competitive is in my nature, and talking excessively is in my genes. I’ve got a terrible sense of direction, but can always easily find my way into Mr. Bruschetta’s arms.
There’s an elephant in the blog. I made a passing reference to it, but in the interest of full disclosure, wanted to provide some more detail.

(source)
Several months after Mr. Bruschetta and I were engaged, FBIL Bruschetta was preparing to propose to his girlfriend. As we had already set our date — and owing to other, personal factors — Mr. Bruschetta’s brother assured us he wasn’t looking to schedule the wedding until 2010.
Fast-forward a few months. Mr. Bruschetta and I are visiting with the newly-engaged couple, and after an uncomfortable silence, they ask how we’d feel if their wedding were in mid-June. We suggest a three-month cushion from our late August affair. We tell them, honestly, that it makes us uncomfortable, chiefly because we are worried about the strain on mutual guests’ schedules and (in some cases) wallets.

About Me: I'm an East Coast gal with intense road rage and an addiction to romantic comedies, fast food, gadgets, Korean BBQ, and my wiener dog George aka Georgia May. I carry mustard packets in my purse and I love perusing the aisles at discount stores. A self proclaimed shopaholic, I impulsively buy electronics, software, and craft tools; none of which I know how to use. I'm excited to dust
these babies off and immerse myself in DIY projects galore in
preparation for our DW in paradise!

Helloooo Sunnie! This is Sunnie as Madonna last year on Halloween. She is my high school buddy, freshman/sophomore college roomie, and lifelong skin adviser. Her skin is flawless. I’ve seen her sans makeup, and her skin is like a baby’s tush. I hate her!
I’ve never really followed any sort of skin care regimen aside from washing my face and applying moisturizer. As of late, it’s becoming apparent that I need some sort of skin intervention. The crows’ feet around the eyes, and happy wrinkles lining my mouth are becoming more evident. I’m more prone to breakouts. And it’s definitely not wedding related considering I haven’t done squat in the past month. My skin is dry and flaky… and the list goes on.
Sunnie wrote me an email this past week detailing her nightly de-facing steps, and I’ve decided to give it a shot, considering her routine is 6 more steps than what I normally do.

About Me: I'm a perfectionist trying to balance two jobs, motherhood, my craft obsession, and wedding planning. I am obsessed with all things wedding, especially creative ideas for saving money and DIY projects. A Southern Belle at heart, I love anything southern, especially sweet tea, grits, afternoon thunder storms, crab cakes, and good old Southern hospitality. Mr. Crab Cake and I are planning a vintage inspired wedding with tons of Southern flare (can y'all say that with a thick Southern drawl?).
Why is it that the invitations are the single most important and irritating decision we brides have to make? It seems like it should be a simple task, right? It’s paper, for goodness sakes.
Shortly after our engagement, a bridesmaid said to me, “Keep the invitations simple, forget ribbons and layers. They are pretty, but expensive.”
I listened, but only for about 35 seconds. I tortured myself (and Mr. Crab Cake) for months with pictures of invitations. I brought home books from the printer to flip through. I can only blame one source for my irrational need to make my own invitations, and that would be my fellow Bees. I was smitten with the invitations suites of Mrs. Shortcake and Mrs. Cupcake. Actually, the minute I saw Mrs. Cupcake’s invitations, I knew I was going to make my own.
Anyway, back to the torture. I looked at so many wedding invitations that I honestly can’t remember them all. What I did know was that I wanted something graphic, elegant, and full of texture. Mr. Crab Cake wanted classic elegance, with no graphics, and no texture. Everything I liked was too loud, too colorful, and too graphic for him. Everything he liked bored me to tears. We were getting to that place where arguments happen. Well, really, we made it there one night. It was ridiculous to be arguing about invitations. They’re such a small part of the big picture.
One night, I was browsing wedding goodness on Etsy, which someone else (can’t remember who) referred to as their “dealer”. I completely agree… Etsy is so my dealer. I don’t buy very often, but I browse daily. Can you window-shop for crack? Anyway, I was browsing Etsy and saw these booklet style programs and thought, ’Hey, here’s an idea. Why not put the invitation into a booklet style layout, keeping everything nice and tidy, without having to create a pocket fold? What a genius plan!’ I hit Google and the first things that came up were these beauties.

Wedding Date: September 2009
Venue: Catholic ceremony, reception at local armory
About Me: A lover of Mr. Mascara, crafting, baking, Gossip Girl, diet soda, and all things wedding. A Yooper girl somehow displaced in the Chicago suburbs, planning a wedding from a distance, and counting down the days until I marry my best friend.
I discovered Doyle & Doyle’s website recently, and I am in love. I have always loved vintage jewelry; I think it is so cool to be wearing something that someone else wore before you, whether it be your grandmother’s wedding ring, or something found at an antique shop. Doyle & Doyle is a company that sells vintage jewelry, and you can shop online! I looked through all of their rings (we are still undecided on our wedding rings) and found a ton of gorgeous pieces to show you!
Here are some that could have potential as wedding bands.

My fiance and I have been together for over 3 years. We fit together perfectly. We want all the same things in life and we are both ready to move on in life—get a house, get married, etc. There is one little catch. He loves children and I do not. I don’t like screaming, spoiled children. Well, not that he does, either. Anyway, I’m not sure if I will ever want children. I think I will one day, but I’m not 100% sure. He told me he’ll only marry me if I say that I 100% want children. Right now, it is more around 80% what I want. I told him all this, and he says that it is not good enough that I think I will want children. I realize this is a super important part of his future, and I don’t want to be unfair to him. However, it also makes me feel like he does not love me unconditionally. I love him a lot, and I don’t want to lose him, but I also want someone who loves me no matter what.
I’d just like some thoughts from some neutral 3rd parties.
Thanks
tig

Mrs. Cowboy Boot, Santa Fe
Age and Occupation: 25, Magazine Editor
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Artist and Whitewater Rafting Guide
Engagement Date: April 28th, 2008
Wedding Date: October 2009
Venue: Devil's Thumb Ranch, Colorado
About Me: I grew up in Los Angeles and have since lived in San Diego, Boston, Italy, Hawaii, New York City, and Santa Fe. I speak Italian and love pasta. My real passion is the outdoors, though. When I'm not at work, I'm snowboarding, hiking with my two dogs, mountain biking, surfing, cross-country-skiing, or boating New Mexico's rivers. Despite my boyish love for adventure, I'm a girly-girl at heart and am overly-excited to pull off the romantic, vintage-inspired, country wedding of my dreams.
Back in September we got an invitation in the mail. It wasn’t a huge surprise (I’d been asked to supply pictures for it!), but it was definitely a welcome one. Mr. Cowboy Boot’s parents decided to throw an engagement party for us. It was held on their five acres in Upstate New York in honor of our engagement in April 2008. It was also the (duh, Duh, DUH) meeting of the parents. Because Mr. CB and I had to drive around looking at venues for the first few days of our trip back East, Mom, Dad, and Brother CB arrived at FIL CBs’ house before we did! They had two days to get to know each other before we even made our entrance. I have to say, this was a pretty welcome thing on our part. We got to avoid the stressful event of trying to find common ground between everyone. Luckily, they did it on their own, and very naturally. Setting up the engagement party was a good icebreaker.

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Engineer and Photographer
Engagement Date: March 2, 2008
Wedding Date: September 2009
Venue: The 19th Century Club
About Me: My fiance and I love living in the city of Chicago with our cats Basil and Linus, and vow to never move to the suburbs if we can possibly avoid it! We’ve poured ourselves into planning a wedding that reflects our personal style - modern and high contrast with a vintage twist. Blogging keeps me creative, baking keeps me happy, and grande nonfat no foam sugar free vanilla lattes keep me sane.
So, we’ve got our fabulous cake all lined up, and I’m super-psyched about it. Now that it’s all taken care of and I know all of the details regarding tier size, I can start turning my attention toward cake stands.
The bottom tier is going to be 13-inches in diameter, so our baker told me I should look for a stand that’s around 15-inches in diameter to ensure that there’s plenty of room. Hmm. A 15-inch cake stand seems to be terribly difficult to find, and I keep on falling in love with stands that just simply won’t work.
This amazing emerald glass cake pedestal is only 10 inches in diameter, but I loooove it! Swoon. It’s so vintage and beautiful. Since we’re only doing a minor detail in green on our cake (with the rest being black and white) this would just make our cake shine. It’s $75, but would be worth every penny. However, it’s only a 10-inch square. Boo. Maybe some other bride can take advantage of this great find!

About Me: I am your typical Midwestern girl attempting to plan a sane, budget-friendly, fun wedding to the man of my dreams. I love shoes, laughing at “Platinum Weddings”, crafts, inspiration boards, candy, and basically anything I can DIY. While weddings can certainly be all-consuming, I honestly can’t wait until the ceremony is over and I can finally call Mr. Powder Puff my husband!
The other day I was innocently flipping through the channels when I came upon the most horrible of all horrible reality TV shows: Surprise Wedding!
The premise? Bring a bunch of wedding-obsessed girls on TV and have them surprise their boyfriends with an ultimatum. Marry me now on this stage! Or else!
When I read the description on the guide, I immediately knew I had to tune in to this train wreck. And boy, was it a twisted, screeching, painful wreck. From the hideous dresses, to the awesomely shocked looks on the unsuspecting guys’ faces, I couldn’t turn away! And being the devoted blogger that I am, I immediately whipped out my camera to capture this for you all.
Hi honey! Let’s get married!

Mrs. Joey, Seattle

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, High School History Teacher
Engagement Date: June 24, 2008
Wedding Date: August 2009

About Me: I'm a Seattle girl through and through except for the fact that I don't drink coffee. I love my job most of the time because I get to travel and work with brilliant people who are trying to prevent Malaria. I love DIY projects of all sorts, cooking, and watching sports. I'd wear anything at Anthropologie and could spend all day on Etsy. I love to travel but shouldn't because I always get myself into unbelievable situations!
We haven’t been super-picky when it comes to outfitting the wedding party, apart from finding matching ties for everyone. Since I only have a MOH, I didn’t have to worry about finding multiple matching dresses. The guys are all wearing black suits, but grey is OK if they don’t have black.
We have not given much thought to the ring bearer and the flower girl. When the flower girl’s mom asked about what kind of dress to be looking for, I told her to look for something appropriate for a summer wedding, in either cream or grey. It wasn’t much to work with, really.
A couple days later, I found the most adorable fabric. It’s perfect for a little kid, but I wasn’t sure why I would need it. Then I realized it would be perfect for a little boy’s tie. Perhaps a little boy in my wedding party? Making a tie seems easy enough. (I say that now.)

(Bruschetta Disclaimer: I’ve written this fully realizing the topic can be controversial to some, but wanted to share my experience nonetheless!)
Several weeks ago, I was preparing for a major life moment. Together with my mister, we put down the deposit, selected the unit, and scheduled the move-in day. After over seven years together, Mr. Bruschetta and I finally got our own place. And I was a bigger jumble of emotions than I expected.
I was nervous. I’m a world-class worrier. (It’s an inherited trait from Mama Bruschetta’s side.) And fretting over ridiculous minutiae is a habit I haven’t been able to break. I was so excited the morning of our shower. Everything was really starting to sink in - the wedding is getting close! Mr. Taffy, the Taffettes, and I met up with mom and sister Taffy early to help set things up.

I knew that things would get crazy once the guests arrived, so I tried to organize some pictures beforehand! I am very grateful for the wonderful ladies who took images with my camera during the shower. It was so nice to see everything in action after the afternoon was over!
