Has anyone else really honed their product hunting skills after wedding planning began? Ever since Miss Powder Puff posted about rehearsal dresses I fell in love with this dress for my bridal crew.*
It takes forever to ship, so I know I’m not the only one coveting this lovely number. Since then I’ve become an avid stalker of photos of this dress. So lucky me when I saw it posted on Snippet & Ink!

I think one of the low moments of planning for our wedding was sitting next to several tealights one afternoon with a stopwatch and pouting when I realized that they would never make it through a four hour reception. I then bought enough supplies for a whole wedding of LED lights and never used them (dumb!) except for in some magnetic lanterns I built for an art installation.

I love Vietnamese lemongrass chicken. I was on the West Elm website cruising around and the description of lemongrass accessories piqued my interest. Thank goodness it did! I found little bulb vases in a lemongrass color (on the very right in maroon below) for $3.99 each. I bought 20 of them. It turns out that shipping is free and there was no sales tax. Score!
I’m also trying to decide on the grey and clear/white vases to complete our look. So far, I think I like these from CB2:
Today’s wiki is Man of Honor. Many brides feel closer to a particular male in their life, like a brother, or childhood friend, than they do another female. So, it’s only fair that he stands up on her side of the bridal party! Anyone that has had a bridesman (hi Mrs. Avocado!) can surely help us to fill out this wiki!
What are some of the logistics involved in having a Man of Honor that differ from having a Maid/Matron of Honor? Typically the parties are divided up by gender, so how do you differentiate your Man of Honor from the Best Man or the groomsmen? What are a Man of Honor’s pre/during/post wedding duties? Share your tips for including a Man of Honor in your wedding party in the wiki:
If you’re unsure how you can contribute to the wiki, take a peek at this wiki article on how to edit a wiki. Check it out and share your expertise! Or, if you’re shy, just leave your tips in the comments, and we can add them to the wiki for you!

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
I love the gesture of a well written and thoughtful thank you note. It isn’t wedding time yet, and already I can’t wait to thank our wedding guests!
For a DIY infant such as myself (who doesn’t own a Gocco), paper products and crafting are somewhat of an enigma to me. I’m not attempting to make my own invitations, but maybe I can handle the thank you notes. Without many original ideas of my own at the moment, I turn to Martha Stewart for details on how to create my own thank yous.
Go crazy with an embosser and create these pretties.
Confession of the day: I was completely and utterly unprepared for our engagement/casual shoot.
We originally planned to have our photo shoot with Cly Creations right after the holidays, but we’ve been so busy with other things that we didn’t even schedule it until just a few weeks ago. Jiyee from Makeup Blush was to do my makeup for the shoot, so it took a little time to find a date that was good for all of us.
Our first dilemma was the location. Actually, it was just my dilemma. Mr. Martini knew exactly where he wanted to take pictures - By the Gapstow Bridge in Central Park, where he proposed to me at the end of the scavenger hunt. As for me, I loved the West Village, but where in the West Village? I didn’t know my way around the area, and since our time was limited, I didn’t want to waste time walking around looking for a good place to take pictures.
But why was I so dead set on the West Village, when I’m a Jersey girl who’s hardly even ventured there? For Mrs. Bee’s birthday one year, we did a Scavenger hunt through Watson Adventures. The hunt took us all over the Village area looking for strange clues that I would never have noticed in passing. There was just so much history there, and I completely fell in love.

… but not drunk people. I’m serious. You always hear about “My friend’s sister’s drunk Vegas quickie wedding”, but that is simply impossible. When we went to get our marriage license, we asked the guy how many drunk people come through each night (since they are open almost all night), and he said they never approve those couples. Actually, the first question I asked him was, “Were you here when Britney Spears married that one guy?”

He rolled his eyes and said no…
What? I think that’s a totally valid and relevant question! See his expression? Yeah, so not into me right now…
So, my first dress fitting is today!! I am so nervous.
It won’t actually be my dress, but a muslin of my dress made to fit my body!! While I have been working extra hard to get my body into shape (I’ll post on this soon), I figured it wouldn’t hurt to have some extra under-roo help.
So, I went looking for the holy Mecca of underwear shapers—Spanks!!!
With the help of the woman in the undies department, I grabbed a few shapers and headed to the dressing room.
First up, the Spanks shaper and smoother.
I hate to go against the grain, but I didn’t love the Spanks! They were totally comfortable, and they made everything smoother, but it didn’t feel like anything was sucked in.

Hello hive! My name is Miss Mascara, and it’s lovely to meet all of you! I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful world of Weddingbee!
A little about myself… I’m a 25 year old biomedical engineer living in the Chicago suburbs. I’m from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (that little part of the state above the mitten… yes, I am a Yooper) and I love everything related to weddings, crafts, and DIY projects.
Mr. Mascara and I have been together for over 7 years, and when he proposed in the middle of an English garden, of course I said yes!

When I last left off on our recaps, my bridesmaids were using safety pins to feverishly repair the gaping hole that Mr. Cookie had accidentally made by stepping on my dress. Unfortunately, by the time my dress was back in working order, the conga line had dissipated.
However, it was that time in the evening for the ol’ garter and bouquet toss.
I’d love to tell you that Mr. Cookie and I conducted ourselves with class and decorum by keeping the garter toss strictly PG, but hey, there wasn’t anyone under the age of 18 in the room. And thus, all our class went right out the window…
Find all those dress disaster pictures you’ve chosen to ‘untag’ in Facebook, and upload them to the Amsale website for a chance to win a $2,500 shopping spree at the flagship store in New York! I know I have pictures from back in the day that I plan to sift through tonight. Good luck!
As I relax and recover this week, I’m hoping to get some wedding stuff done, since I don’t sit still too well. The first big thing that needs to get out are our save the dates. I had originally hoped to have these out in the mail in January or February, however with all the medical stuff going on, that has just not happened. We just booked our engagement session for a few weeks from now and I want to use those pictures for the save the dates.
To make things a little easier on the production, and to save money on postage, we decided we should do postcards. I want to work on our graphic design with Mr. Ducky so that once we have our pictures, all we have to do is drop the image in and send them off for printing. Mr. Ducky is working, so I will be on my own using Photoshop during the day, which will be interesting. ![]()
Here are some save the date postcards I’ve seen that are inspiring me as I think about what to do.

I was going to hand screen-print our poster-sized invitations. I was so excited about it. I’ve wanted to learn to screen-print for years and thought this would be the perfect project to try.
I bought all my supplies (screen, ink, emulsion set, paper, squeegee) online, printed my design on a transparency, and set out to learn to screen print. There are several ways to create your screen (stencil) but I decided that photo emulsion would be the best method for me because of the detail of the invitation fonts. I mixed the emulsion chemicals, prepared my screen by coating it with emulsion solution, and stuck it in a dark place to dry.
My first attempt was a partial success.
