I spent a Wednesday night putting our invitations together. We went with an unconventional wedding invitation: a very large poster. I think it’s 9″x21″. Seriously. No reply card or maps were included, just instructions to email RSVPs to our new communal email address.

Today I’m delighted to share with you the first of two detail-oriented recap posts. These are sort of like recaps of the recap - focused on all the outfits, accessories, DIY projects, decorations, and edible/drinkable pieces of our wedding. Many of you have asked me questions about specific things that we wore, made, or did. Well, these detail posts are the best place to look for all that information, and to see new photos of all the little things that made our wedding day special.
Check it out!

“I would love a link that would take you back post by post for a certain bee. Maybe next to the “older” “newer” links there could be “older by this bee” links?” - Mrs. Tiramisu
Last week, Mrs. Tiramisu suggested we add an “older by this bee” link. We’ve always wanted to do this… but never knew where to put those links.
Then last week when we were coding the new Weddingbee photo gallery, we added navigation links on top of each photo. You can check ‘em out on top of Mrs. Toucan’s awesome groom’s cake of Nintendo’s Super Mario!
That gave us the idea to try something similar out on the blog. It would let you go to the first/oldest post by a particular Bee… and then click “next” until you’ve read every post by that particular Bee!

This has been a long time feature request, and we’re so excited to have found a home for the feature at the top of each page.
You can check it out in action in these awesome posts by older I mean, more mature Bees:
Just click “oldest”, and you can read all of their posts from the beginning.
I hope you guys enjoy this feature as much as we do. Let us know what you think!

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
I have to make a confession. Every time I see a yard sale/garage sale/estate sale sign, I have to go. It’s not like I’m there at 6:30 AM bright and early, and ready to scour through someone’s old stuff. And I think Mr. Cowboy Boot’s term “garbage sale” can be very apt, but if I happen to be on my way somewhere and that bright orange/yellow/purple sign perks up at me from a street corner, I’m following its arrow. Here’s why: I’m collecting vintage glass, Ball jars, lanterns, and, apparently, a birdcage, for our wedding.

This weekend I stumbled upon a sale run by a couple that is moving to Mexico. Among their goodies were handmade glass bottles, a cake stand, and a birdcage that I just didn’t want to leave without:

This summer I have the pleasure of standing in not one, but two of my friends’ weddings (both of them are standing in my wedding as well). I must admit, it’s kind of fun to be planning our weddings at the same time. We are all in the same boat, and whenever everyone else is tired of hearing about the weddings, we have each other to talk to!
Dana’s wedding is in October, so I’ll have a month to recover after our wedding. We recently picked out our bridesmaids dresses. We had a great time trying to find the perfect one, stopping at a few Chicago establishments along the way, of course. We selected strapless satin dresses from the Vineyard Collection in Pewter. I think they will look beautiful, don’t you?

Some of the Bees mentioned that it’d be nice to have Weddingbee business cards, so we had a bunch printed up through Overnight Prints! Many a Bee has used Overnight Prints including Miss Stiletto and Miss Blush for their save the date postcards, Mrs. Emerald for her invitations and thank you postcards, and I’m sure there are many more.

They were super affordable — $178 for 5000 business cards and 100 magnets with one of their frequent coupons — and they turned out great. Big props to Mrs. Cupcake for designing these cards!
Overnight Prints is offering a 10% discount on greeting cards for Weddingbee readers if you go here and use discount code 104WED through April 30th.
Let us know if you spot a Weddingbee business card floating around somewhere! ![]()
Hi everyone! I wanted to give you an update on why my posting has been so light the last week and will be for the next week or two. I am having surgery. Yep… it’s not the best timing, but something I need to do. Before I give you details, I think I might buy this necklace. This is just another example of how you can find ANYTHING on Etsy!
(from the Etsy shop of CindyVdesigns)What kind of surgery, you ask?

Welp, I did it. I chopped all my hair off. I’ve been dying to do it for some time now, and now with the wedding over I had nothing holding me back. I cut off about 10 inches of hair and donated it to Locks of Love.
I wasn’t the only one in the family that got the choppity, chop, chop done.

Sure, it might collect a little dust over the years. Yes, it might get relegated to the back of the closet for a while. And you might not pull it out every time a new guest comes over. Still. Get an album. Here’s why I think you should…

Mom Taffy really wanted to give packets of seeds to the guests at my shower, keeping in line with her spring theme. I will show you the steps that we took to create the favors and display, and a tutorial for the easy homemade yarn signs. I think that this would be a really fun favor for spring or rustic-themed weddings.

Here is one of the finished containers holding vegetable seeds. Don’t mind the crazy sheet or background; we were in full crafting mode when this was taken!

Oh Craig, what can I say about you but that I love your list. It started out bumpy between us (a bad roommate experience) but in the last 2.5 years, it’s been nothing but wonderful. My first encounter with craigslist started out great, but ended badly. I found some nice girls to live with in DC who found an amazing house. Long story short, they were crazy, and I had to move.
Things turned around a few years ago when I was moving back to Seattle from DC (my second stint in the city) and I was looking for apartments to view while I was in Seattle for 4 days for a few interviews. Everything was too expensive, and I was about to give up when I read a posting titled, “3 bedroom apartment, North Beacon Hill, $1000″. If that wasn’t enough, the only picture on the listing was of a dragon made from tile. It said that the dragon was part of the custom designed bathroom. I called immediately and made an appointment for Saturday morning at 7AM. I was getting in at 11:30PM on the Friday before. The apartment was better than I imagined. We not only have 3 large bedrooms, but also 2 bathrooms, lots of closets, tile in both bathrooms, and bamboo floors though the whole place. We moved in 2 weeks later and have been there ever since.
Over the years, craigslist has provided me with amazing deals. $1000 leather couch from IKEA for $200? Check. Brand new Brother sewing machine for $50? Check! So when I needed help staying within my itty bitty budget, I went to craigslist.
My first find? The photographer.
