Doing My Homework : The Hair

April 1st, 2009 @ 11:49 am by Mrs. Joey

Last time I met with Ashley, my hair/makeup artist, I didn’t do my homework. I wasn’t sure what I really wanted, so we played with a few styles. After some careful consideration and few hours lost surfing the web, I think I finally know what I’m after.

I’m thinking of having a low ponytail pulled to the side, with sweeping bangs in front to hide my crazy hairline. I don’t want something that looks “done”. I’m looking for something pulled together, but slightly messy. If a hair or two falls out of place on the big day, I want it to look like it was meant to be that way. I also want my hair to have some body.

Here’s what I’m thinking…

Doing My Homework : The Hair : wedding hair Taylor

Doing My Homework : The Hair : wedding hair Hts 300

Doing My Homework : The Hair : wedding hair E5c923f01

Doing My Homework : The Hair : wedding hair 5101299

Doing My Homework : The Hair : wedding hair Ba4146d

Doing My Homework : The Hair : wedding hair 022309

Doing My Homework : The Hair : wedding hair 011209

Doing My Homework : The Hair : wedding hair 9640af3

all images from project wedding

I’m leaning toward the low ponytails of American Ferrera (pic 5) and Michelle Williams (pic 6) but I really like the messy bun of Misha Barton (pic 3). Actually, I really like her makeup in this picture too.

Is your wedding day hair going to be put together and polished, or a little messy?

Those are all REALLY pretty pictures. Personally, I think you’d look great with the Katie (ahem, Kate) Holmes hair style. Very Bridget Bardo (sp?). Sigh…remember when she was normal?

I’ve always loved the Michelle Williams. It’s very soft and no fuss.

The Taylor Swift, Mischa Barton and Michelle Williams photos are all in my hair inspiration folder! Great choices.

Definitely love the styles. For my sister’s wedding both her and I had a low ‘messy bun’ look and it was elegant and hassle free. Just remember that even if you want that loose and free look that your actual hair is secured tight. You dont want too many strands of hair falling out of place!

I love all of these Miss Joey! :) The Michelle Williams and Mischa Barton pictures are my favorites though!
I’m definitely going for more of the messy look as well.
My hair never stays in place or holds curl for that matter so it’d be hard for me to pull of the polished look.

Totally not your question — but who is that in the last pic? I need it! I love her makeup!

Great inspiration pictures! I am actually deciding how I want to wear my hair and I am looking at something similar. I think I’m going to go for a low bun, and I like the messy look, but I think I’m going to be somewhere in between a messy do, and a perfect do. I want it to be clean, yet soft and romantic!
However, I’m definitely going to keep that Katie Holmes picture in mind for my rehearsal dinner– that is perfect for an outside rehearsal dinner on the beach!

Whoa this is the best set of pictures I have ever seen re: hair–I think you and I have the exact same hair ideas! Kind of romantic, not fussy, pulled together without looking overly manicured. Thank you so much for this post, I will be bookmarking it so that I can single white female you. Ha.

I love Michelle Williams’ hair! She looks stunning.

I think I’m going for more polished look because of my dress and details but I love love all these photos. I wish I could have hair like that daily!

I’m doing the exact same style! It was actually my stylist’s idea. She curled it first, then pinned it into a loose (yet sturdy enough to last 12 hours) bun on my left side. We also tried it in the center, but the side bun won by far — I liked that it didn’t “disappear” when I was facing forward. I think I’m going to stick a flower in it, too.

While the pics are great, you have to think about the whole day. I would love to do my hair that way too, but I plan to dance the night away with my new husband, so I know I’m gonna sweat. A hairstyle like that might not last all night… But if you are sure its the hairstyle for you- enjoy. You’ll look great!

@1Bride2Be: I hadn’t thought of that but the ceremony and reception is done by 4pm. It’s an early wedding.

Hope this helps! A beautiful wedding with a side pony tail! I found this whenever I started looking for styles. I love it!
