Shoes Schmoos

April 1st, 2009 @ 3:57 pm by Mrs. Cheese

I almost completely forgot to blog about this, what with the chaos of ripping up our front yard to fix the drainage system and trying to get invites out the door.

I bought shoes!

Shoes Schmoos : wedding shoes 399679 Fuchsia

source

They’re happy, comfy, and will match my bouquet (um, maybe)… yay! Oh, yea, and ON SALE. For less. than. thirty. bucks. including. tax. Score! I’ll change into them after traversing the path to our ceremony site (which is now lined with gravel courtesy of my man).

So, that’s the good news.

The bad news is that I left my comfy Cole Haan ballet flats, which I’d planned to wear to and from the ceremony site, on the hood of my SUV and drove off, not noticing the situation until a SHOE FRIGGING FLEW OVER MY WINDSHIELD INTO THE ROAD. Sigh. I was running late and the road was busy so I was unable to rescue my shoe. We shall see if I can tomorrow.

Anyone else done a dumb (shoe -related or otherwise) thing lately?

my dad once did that with my mom’s wedding ring!

I was in grade school and he was bringing it to be repaired on saturday morning. He set it on the top of the car while he unloaded some stuff into the backseat and drove off.

Crazily enough, about a week later our neighbors were on a walk and saw something shiny in the landscape stones at the corner of our streets. The ring! It took my parents a little while to figure out someone had found the ring and it was safely returned. But a very traumatic experience for my dad!

hope you find your shoes in one piece!

@LatteLove: I did it with my wedding ring too! But I never found mine :( What is it about putting stuff on the hood of our cars? I totally do it with sunglasses and drinks all the time!

OH NO!!
Growing up my mom ALWAYS left things on the top of her car, esp. cups of tea - My dad would always know she was disracted in the morning when he would get home and find a smashed teacup right outside of the driveway.

I adore those pink heels, I may have borrow the idea! Our colors go perfectly and I wanted some fun bright shoes under my dress. I’m sorry about your ballet flats though, what a bummer. Hopefully you can find it safe and sound though!

What dumb things have I done lately? How long does the hive have?!! As my FI suggested, I just wasn’t thinking this weekend. I’m a novice painter and thought I could double prime and paint our bathroom - wrong. Luckily he fixed it. Edging in a bathroom is hard work ladies! Then, I was helping move our new sofa into the house and it wasn’t fitting. I *knew* if I just pushed it would fit through the door, again wrong. Luckily nothing was broken in that adventure. And third (as it ran in 3’s this past weekend) while moving the sofa into the front door I tripped over some outdoor lighting and it broke. I wasn’t upset because I didn’t like it and wanted them removed from the new house. While FI got the sofa in the door, I decided to just pull up the lighting, I was being helpful! Incorrect - the wiring was apparently put under our sidewalk so now the lights and wires are just chillen in our flower beds out front!

Sorry, for the long post just wanted to share we’ve all had our moments of not thinking!

Oh no Miss Cheese…hopefully you’ll find it! I gave the people dying my shoes the wrong swatch of fabric and was really confused when I picked up pale green shoes instead of bright blue ones.

My roommate when I first moved to GA was and still is notorious for leaving things on the hood of her car….laptops, notebooks, cups, shoes, lunch, the list goes on and on. Her husband made her swear on her life that she would never ever place their new baby anywhere on her car ;)

I’m sorry- but you mind if I laugh hysterically at your post regarding your lost shoe? =o) It’s things like that that you just sit there saying to yourself “why me? why today? why THAT? of all things?!”.
The only thing I have done remotely forgetful lately is leaving my phone or coffee mug on my car while rushing to pack up to leave. My phone (which has since been replaced) miraculously was”spared”. I drove off realizing I left it on my car trunk. I back tracked on the road and found it on the road, then within a moment of making eye contact with it- a HUMMER drove over it. Yup. a HUMMER. It still worked, but the outdoor screen was broken.

My dad leaves coffee cups on the roof. Often. So often that his presents mostly consist of travel mugs, which we all assume will be on the highway in a few weeks.
