My idea of a great date night is dinner and clearance shopping with Mr. Ballet Flat! I currently live below sea level in the suburbs near New Orleans, where I make maps all day, everyday for my job. I'm slowly becoming more and more obsessed with anything New Orleans related for our wedding, and I can't wait for the big day!

My Hostesses are the Mostest!

April 1st, 2009 @ 1:21 pm by Mrs. Ballet Flat

My fabulous aunt and MOH (Mizz K) volunteered to host a bridal shower for me in a couple of weekends. There were a few date snafus, since they are both busy bees (pun intended) in their own lives, but with the date sealed and addresses finalized, the shower is on! I’m super excited about this, because there are some people I haven’t seen in forever that I can’t wait to hang out with for a few hours!

To thank my hostesses, I am giving them a few simple little gifts. Surely no gift can show them how much I appreciate them doing this for me, but it’s a start. :)

I purchased a few handmade soaps from The Anderson Soap Company on Etsy. While I haven’t used the products, the reviews are great and the scents are awesome as well!

I will also get candles from Amy’s Country Candles, a local chain in Louisiana. I like to support this local company, because the people there are so nice and the candles just smell crazy amazing! I’m going to get a little girly and buy the ones they carry in a wine glass. I think it will be ultra chic, no?

And finally, I will go all foodie and make them a cupcake pop bouquet. Bakerella has made these cute pops famous (they’ve been featured on MARTHA!). She has two versions, but I’m going with the easier (made with a mold) version. The instructions for those are here, but if you’re feeling ultra ambitious, here’s the more difficult version.

What are you doing for your shower hostess(es)?

Oooo, please post your cupcake pops! I love Bakerella’s projects, and am so curious to see what type of design you’ll do. :-)

I second that, please post cupcake pops. I’ve been reading Bakerella’s blog for quite some time now.
I tried to make the cute little footballs she had on her site for a super bowl party I went to and it was much harder than it looked.
I somehow missed this post on an easy version of cupcake pops so thanks for posting. :)

Oh! You bring up a timely and good question! I haven’t even thought about it given the grrr-factor involved with my shower planning. I need to do something, though! Thanks for reminding me!

Those cupcake pops are soooo cute! I plan on giving my bridesmaids and my mom (who is helping to host the shower) prints from a really creative artist, his name is Brian Andreas. Everytime my mom and I go on vacation we find his work in the cutest little shops. There is a little story that fits perfectly with each girl.

I can’t wait to read everyone’s recommendations. My cousin and aunt are hosting a big shower party for me along with a couple of cousin’s in-law. I know what I’m getting my aunt, we are both knitters and she spins too. I’m getting her some fiber and a magazine subscription. But I have no idea what to get my main hostess (my cousin), or what to get my cousin’s in law (helper hostesses). I am the youngest cousin by far in the family and I never lived near the family so I don’t have as strong a connection with them as my aunt. I want everyone’s gifts to be just as lovely and personal as my aunt’s gift but still cost less than $20.

I have been wondering what to get my shower hosts. It is so hard actually, I was thinking of a make up luggage like box and some lotions and products inside but I just don’t know if that is good enough. I hope your post gets more ideas, your gifts are adorable, I like the soap idea I bet they smell wonderful.

I think I’m going to get my MOH something for her kitchen… she is an excellent baker so probably something along those lines.
For our family friend who is throwing my other shower I’m not sure yet.
P.S. I can’t wait to see your cupcake pops :)
