A Unique Fall Color Scheme

April 3rd, 2009 @ 4:59 pm by Mrs. Mascara

My cousin Heather is planning a fall 2010 outdoor wedding, and has asked me to help her plan it! She wants to incorporate some of the traditional fall colors. I found this gorgeous color scheme on one of my favorite blogs, 100 Layer Cake, that I think would be perfect for a beautiful fall affair. It incorporates some of the traditional fall colors (red and gold) while bringing in a some unexpected shades of plum and midnight blue.

I am in love. That is, if it’s possible to be in love with a color scheme. I think it is.

What’s your favorite color scheme?

It reminds me of one of Katherine’s beautiful boards last November over at Snippet & Ink (http://snippetandink.blogspot.com/2008/11/board-309-pomegranate-and-plum.html). I bet your cousin’s wedding will be beautiful!

I am also getting married in fall of 2010, but early fall in September. We are going for more of a summer palate with white, navy, apple green, and a splash of mustard yellow and magenta. Just a splash though. ;-)

What a gorgeous palette… I’ve been saving palettes to use as inspiration for future home decorating since I’ve already selected my wedding colors. This one is definitely going into that folder!

I’m so into the idea of jewel tons for a fall wedding. :-)

Love how it’s traditional yet not all at the same time!

I love the auburn & plum! It’s so similar to the color palette I’ve been working on for my september wedding - my inspiration was moreso fields of lavender & poppies, though!
If it’ll help your sister, I talked about figuring out my color palette here (http://lavenderandpoppies.blogspot.com)

Those are beautiful colors. I am also being married in early autumn 2011 ( altho the calendar says late summer and am searching for color schemes. Cranberry & gold with crystal anad candles are winning at the moment.

One of the best things I’ve done so far is take some of my BM with different skin tones to try on gowns in colors that I liked. Quickly found out that some of the popular neutrals look too blah- almost looked like they were wearing nothing so that helped a lot.
