New York Bridal Shows

April 4th, 2009 @ 5:45 pm by Mrs. Bee

Bridal shows can really be hit or miss, and if one was good a particular year, it isn’t necessarily indicative of whether it will be good the following year.  I typically don’t attend bridal shows, but I ended up going to three in the past month, and luckily… they were all great!

First up was BFF Bridal.  Unfortunately I accidentally deleted the images on my camera from that event, but the venue was great, the food was superb, there was a great selection of high end vendors, and the gift bag was tres awesome.  I think it’s a mistake when bridal shows don’t give press attendees gift bags, because how else will we write about them?  I always give mine away anyway, but who doesn’t like receiving a little gift? ;)

Next up: The Wedding Salon.  This event was packed!  A little too packed for my claustrophobic self, but there were some big names in the house!

Cupcakes from Nine Cakes…  Magnolia Bakery was there as well, but I live a block from them so I eat there all the time (skip the cupcakes and get the red velvet, banana pudding, or the icebox cake if you’re a chocolate lover).

I ran into Vane aka Brooklyn Bride at every single bridal event!  Here we are pictured with Minhee of the fabulous stationery line Paper+Cup Design.

Here I am with Kathlin Argiro and a very pregnant Tatiana Byron (founder of the Wedding Salon).

The legendary Sylvia Weinstock.  (Who had the best tasting cake samples that night!)

Finally the New York Magazine event. The first year I went to this show, there weren’t that many vendors or attendees. But I’d heard great things about it in subsequent years, and this most recent show did not disappoint. In fact it was my favorite bridal show this season!

Pika Photos was also at the Wedding Salon.

I finally got to meet the talented gal, not guy behind Mr. Boddington’s Studio — one of my all time favorite stationery lines!

Cheree Berry was there as well.  Love these fun ant and watermelon weekend event cards!

Their classic Bee Mine invite is also a favorite. :)

Wow, your bridal show pics make bridal shows seem way cooler then I think they are. Or its because they are in New York! I love Mr. Boddingtons studio stationary. That is so cool that you get to schmooz with the wedding elite!!

Wow, way better than all the ones I went to around here. I said they weren’t great, but after seeing those photos I can officially say the ones I went to just plain sucked. You are one lucky lady, it looks like it was so fun!

I always attend the Wedding Salon and meet some great vendors. This year my favorites were Pika Photos and Paper Cup. Out of the ordinary always adds a WOW to any event.

I would LOVE to get information on Pika Photos! I tried to google them, but all I got were pictures of this really, really cute animal - I used to do purikura all the time when I lived in Japan, and I know alot of my guests would get a kick out of it.

hi, mrs. bee! do you have any suggestions for getting in touch with a bee who had her wedding mid-last year, and who may not post on her blog as often? i don’t think i can pm her because all of her posts are through her blog. thank you so much!

As long as my call schedule is amicable, I want to attend the “Not Wedding” which is going to be held in ATL again in a bit.

I’m finally going to get into visiting a few to glean some design ideas..wow Bee, those looked so fun (and tasty too)..you met Sylvia Weinstock!! Of all the floral centerpieces you showed us, I think I loved the first, with it’s simple groupings of the off white flowers and the scattering of the tealights on the table..simple and lovely!

By the way, you looked lovely too! Thanks for sharing !

Thanks so much for posting these! I LOVE Mark Joseph Cakes, love his simple clean sharp lines. He is actually pretty affordable, might go for a tasting in May!

All those cakes look incredible! When I see cakes like that I want to nix our cake buffet and go with a single cake.

Ladies, it is better to view the photos than to attend! It was so crowded and I felt sorry for all of the smashed up brides. It was way too crowded and such a shame because it was really beautiful and chock full of great vendors.

Bridal shows in Central PA are nothing compared to the NYC shows. Ohhh…I would love to attend a show in NYC…even if it’s just to taste test. :)

I’ve drooled on my keyboard more than once looking at Mr. Boddington’s Studio and Cheree Berry Stationary - I would have loved to see them in person!
