Friendnuptials!

April 5th, 2009 @ 5:25 pm by Mrs. Powder Puff

I don’t know about you all, but I have reached that magical age when it seems like everyone and their little sister is planning a wedding. We’re in our mid-twenties. That means it’s time to get hitched! Consider this: Mr. Powder Puff and I are attending at least three weddings in the next year (all occurring within a few months of one another), with a couple more to follow soon thereafter. In the next few years, we will be celebrating the nuptials of up to eight friends. Phew!

While it would be easy to feel like our wedding might be lost in the shuffle, I’m finding it to be totally awesome! It’s so fun to talk about someone else’s wedding besides my own, weddings with a completely different style and feel to them. It’s so refreshing!

One of my favorites is the wedding of our good friends, Kristyn and Jake.

Friendnuptials! : wedding color schemes wedding dress Jakean Gorgeous couple, right?

One of the fun things about this duo is that Kristyn is one of my bridesmaids, and Jake is one of Mr. Powder Puff’s groomsmen!

Their wedding is modern and fresh- totally the opposite of our vintage, garden-y affair. Think greens, black and white. Kind of like this:

Another wedding that the mister and I are really looking forward to is the nuptials of our friends, Brian and Katie.

They’re such a fun couple, and our soon-to-be neighbors! Holla!

Their wedding is going to be this August in Maine. It’ll be a preppy, seaside fete, with lobster as a dinner option (yum!). It feels kind of like this:

Katie is wearing a fabulous short dress—she’s going to look amazing!

I can’t wait to attend these weddings! It’s wonderful to see friends get married, and so much fun to witness the planning of weddings other than your own. And don’t fret, my lovelies. I’ll be documenting these weddings, and I’ll definitely share them with you all!

Do you enjoy seeing your friends plan weddings at the same time as your own?

I love that there are more weddings this year!

Ours is the 3rd of 8 (count ‘um 8!) in 2009. I’m a bride and a bridesmaid this summer! I can’t wait to see how everyone does it!

I’m in my 30’s and didn’t ever experience this mid-20’s coupling off. I lost touch with most of my married friends when they met their so’s so this is all new to me. I’ve been to three weddings my whole life and it makes planning mine more fun. I have nothing to live up to or compare to and I like it that way.

That’s so great! I love that you and your fellow bride friends have all been so loving and supportive of each other rather than taking on a competitive edge. I must admit that I am competitive, and because of this, I am very happy that I’m the last to be married in my group of friends. I love the two inspiration boards, btw!

We’re the first out of our group to get married (I’m 25, he’s 27) and I don’t think any more weddings will be coming up any time soon. We may get a couple in a year or so, and I think then it’ll get more frequent. It seems like a lot of our friends are staying single for a while if not permanently

I have two friends getting married after me and it is so much fun to chat about weddings. Eight weddngs in a short period of time is crazay! But sounds so much fun at the same time. Definitely keep us updated, I love the Maine wedding theme dress, so different!!

OMG I’m totally in this camp too! I have six weddings this year, including my own! Three out of four of my BMs are also getting married this summer. Two are in May, I’m in June, and one in July, of which two are destination. I also have a cousin in a different state getting married, and a friend that is getting married in India!

i only have one this year and one some time next year. i’m at the point where most of my friends are married so the weddings are getting more sporadic. which means by the time the bf and i make our way down the aisle all the attention will be on us.

I think attending weddings before your own actually helps you plan your own. You can see what you like from their wedding and modify it to add to your own. You can even see how participants like the celebrant, make up and hair artists, dj / band and catering perform, if they are fantastic you just may have saved yourself some time :)

Yes this IS the magical age isn’t it??? I’m 26 and since we got engaged (Aug 08) I’ve known up to 5 couples who have gotten engaged!!!!!!!!!! We are going to a wedding at the end of this month and then it’s OUR wedding in July…then we have friends getting married the week after but we’re on our honeymoon. Then I’m a bridesmaid for one of my friend’s Aug wedding!!!!!!!!

It is so true! At our age, it seems as though ALL of our friends are getting married. Since last August we’ve had 6 and once June comes around it’ll be 8 weddings in 10 months! The funny thing is that we were one of the 1st to be discussing marriage and my FI would say “I don’t wanna be the first”, now we’re probably gonna be the last! LOL Anywhoo, the wedding before ours are great opportunities to grab ideas. And who knows who’ll get married after us, but I’m sure I’ll be more than willing to help give ideas for those. (;

It’s neat to see how your friends express their personalities through their wedding plans. Plus, for me, it’s fun to be able to have wedding talk without annoying people who don’t care as much as we do — it’s like a real-life Weddingbee when your friends are planning too!
