Mrs. Sea Breeze's Picture
Mrs. Sea Breeze, Vancouver/Dominican Republic Age in 2008 and Occupation: 30, Communications Manager Fiance's Age in 2008 and Occupation: 29, Experiential Marketing Director Engagement Date: October 6, 2007 Wedding Date: November, 2008 Blogging Since: July 17, 2008 Venue: Majestic Colonial Resort, Punta Cana About Me: Planning a destination wedding by the sea should be (oh no she di-in't…) a breeze (…*sigh* yep, she did) but when you've never been to the Caribbean, your powers of imagination are really put to the test. Luckily, I'm 90% resourceful, creative optimist (and kooky, neurotic practicalist-if-that's-a-word for the other ten). Other than writing about our week-long celebration of family, friends, laughter and love, I adore books, shoes and… you guessed it… long walks on the beach.

Stylish Photo Book Covers

April 5th, 2009 @ 2:50 pm by Mrs. Sea Breeze

I’m interrupting the Sea Breeze recaps to bring you this special treat - I just couldn’t wait until they were over. I know, I know… jeez woman, wrap it up already! I’m swear I’m trying, but I have so many projects on the go these days, it’s a bit crazy here in SB Land.

One of these million and one projects is our photo books.

After having made one for Pepperpot as part of her MOH thank you gift, I knew that I wanted to create photo books of all our wedding images not just for us, but for our parents, too.

And then I came across this:

Stylish Photo Book Covers : wedding albums 1 shutterfly3

Stylish Photo Book Covers : wedding albums 2 shutterfly4

Stylish Photo Book Covers : wedding albums 3 blurb1

Source

Aren’t those the coolest photo book covers ever? The photo book programs (Blurb, Inkubook, Shutterfly, MyPublisher, Snapfish) let you upload a photo to use as a cover and sometimes add text too, but they’re pretty plain. A custom-designed cover just blows those other ones out of the water.

I got in touch with Tiffany, one half of Style.ish Designs, a husband and wife team who combine their talents to design all sorts of papery goodness.

They were so fun and easy to work with! Here’s what they came up with for us.

Front cover option A:

Stylish Photo Book Covers : wedding albums 4 kr5

Front cover option B:

Stylish Photo Book Covers : wedding albums 5 kr3

Back cover:

Stylish Photo Book Covers : wedding albums 6 kr2

I went with B… and they mocked up what our books will look like once they’re done:

Stylish Photo Book Covers : wedding albums 7 kr1

That’s just the thing I needed to motivate me to get those darned photo books finished! I can’t wait. All I’ll have to do is upload the cover and back images that they created for me into the program, et voila!

The only thing I regret is not having gotten in touch with Tiffany and Jared earlier - I absolutely would have had them design our thank you cards (more on that one day), especially now that I’ve seen what they did for their own.

Stylish Photo Book Covers : wedding albums 8 suite2

Stylish Photo Book Covers : wedding albums 9 suite

Aren’t they fantastic? The creativity of these two amazes me but isn’t surprising - they both have quite the “style-ish” eye. They are also photographers who specialize in engagement and wedding sessions (where they find the time to do all these things beats me!).

Anyways, back to my hectic weekend… hopefully I’ll find some time to work on our photo books s’more.

Are you planning to create a photo book of your wedding day or other events?

Those are fabulous! Our photographer package includes albums created for the parents, but the covers aren’t going to be as cool as those! I love what they created for you - so serene yet fun and modern too!

That looks awesome!! I can’t wait to get to that point where I can make all the books after the wedding. I totally plan on making our own photo albums, including one each for each set of parents, and some for us of course :)

With that gorgeous photo, no matter what you did with the cover, you’d still have a beautiful intro to you album. Seriously, gorgeous picture — love the whimsy of the parasol.

These are awesome! They really are uber talented! And good choice on the second front cover option! The purple in your names give it that little something extra :)

@Lillindy: I think it depends on what you want and what size you need, etc. I recommend getting in touch with them directly.

@LzzNYC: We did everything over email, they were really easy to work with!

Those two did my engagement photos. I heart them, they were so much fun! If we hadn’t already sent STDs and made decisions about our invites by that time, I would have utilized their awesome design services. Thank yous are still an option!
