About Mrs. Stiletto

Doggie “I Do”

April 7th, 2009 @ 6:33 pm by Mrs. Stiletto

I won’t lie…these days, Stiletto has puppy on the brain. Charlie has been a member of our family for a little over 3 weeks now, and we’ve been loving every minute of it (despite the draining of our bank accounts, lack of sleep, 5:30AM walks…). While we’ve had cats for a few years, we are such proud pup parents!

Doesn’t that face just look so innocent?! Like he would never, ever wake you up at 3AM crying? Or chase your beloved (err, somewhat spoiled and over-indulged) felines around the house?

We’re slowly but surely learning the right things to do to keep Charlie happy and healthy while training him to be an obedient member of the Stiletto family. And in the process, we’re learning more about ourselves, being selfless, and how different we often react in stressful situations. Our “parenting styles” are definitely showing their true colors.

However, as much as we love Charlie, I don’t know that we’d go quite so far as to welcome him into the wedding ceremony. I mean, no offense to Charlie, but he does have a natural inclination to bark/whine/jump/drool/shed/etc. He’s not exactly bred for fancy affairs. But maybe your pooch is. Or you just want some sort of representation of your pooch on the wedding day. With that in mind, I’ve scouted some great ideas for including your canine in the big day, whether or not you want to actually lead them down for the festivities.

Remember our fabulous cake toppers by Etsy’s Goose Grease? No worries. They can also create your pooch for only $10! Cats too! And I think they even do fish. Go on, get your whole family up there on the cake! How cute would this be?!

Don’t leave your dog out of the fun - make him or her part of the ceremony! This custom collar features a ring pillow so your pooch can trot on down the aisle with rings in tow! Etsy seller The Modern Petshop sells this flowered collar for $50, and the ring pillow is priced separately. I love the red poppy!

Strapped for table numbers? Show off your pup! Etsy seller By Invite Only Design will create 5 x 7 table numbers for $2.75 each with the photo you provide. So cute!

Give your friend a modern look with this fashionable tie. For only $8.00, Etsy’s Dogties has this chic black dog tie. However, they have a full selection of ties in different colors and patterns. I think this would look smashing on a basset hound!

You’re picking out a fabulous dress for the day, so why can’t she? Etsy’s Hatz4brats is selling this custom couture gown for $60. Just promise not to make her go on a doggy diet to fit into it on the big day!

There are so many options to incorporating your dogs into the wedding day, and this is a trend that seems to be continuing to grow. We’re pampering our pets more and more - from doggy daycare, to spas, to pricey boutiques.

Because we invest so much time and love into our pets, does it then make sense to have them there on the big day?

What a fun post! Have you seen these cute “southern charm” dog collars on etsy? Yes, I’ll admit our coton de tulear has a hydrangea one to match our wedding flowers even though she won’t be at the ceremony.

Aww..I want to adopt a dog but I’m not home enough to give it the time it deserves :(
If I did have a dog though I would definitely find some sort of way to incorporate him (or her!).

Charlie is adorable! Mr. P and I both had cats when we met, but getting a dog changed our lives. We used our pets’ mugs for our table numbers. I just printed off photos at home with the numbers on them and bought 2-sided frames at the dollar store. Which I still have if you are interested ;)

We almost had Ryder at the wedding only because we didn’t know what to do with him! But my parents have offered to stow him at their place (which I’m sure he’ll think is a palace!). Whew! Dodged a bullet on that one, Ryder’s a handful!

I love Charlie! I bet he’d love to have a play date with my girls. :)

I wish I could have my 3 Labs as wedding guests, but I think I would be admitted to an insane asylum for that, lol. We’re doing doggie table numbers so they’ll still be with us for our big day!

Charlie’s so dashing! Jellyby, our shih tzu, sends a tail wag. She couldn’t be at the wedding (too much of a handful), but we put her on our photo cards, which we gave out to our guests at the end of the night.

Too cute! But my dog would never tolerate being dressed up- she’s probably just tear it off!

I think my BF is going to make sure our dogs are included in the wedding, he spoons his dog every night. I love the idea of having your whole family on the wedding cake.

I don’t think we’re including any pets, but we both have cats. FI is especially attached to the cats, but not in a wedding way. I am interested in those who include pets, though…

Aw. Charlie is so darn handsome!
We are proud doggie parents as well, that being said, she is way too…friendly!….to be a part of our wedding. :(

our little guy einstein was a huge part of our day. he was our groomsdog and sat quietly, dressed in his tux in the best mans lap for the whole ceremony. he even came to our reception and danced with me. everyone thought he was so darling and well behaved. my family was a little apprehensive of his presence at the wedding but he really did a great job. This is he and i after the dancefloor opened up: http://tinyurl.com/eineywed

I love all of this!! I adored the cake toppers you had made and I saw where they would do dogs, but I don’t think I can convince my FI! haha, but I may have to purchase just to have a cute set of our family. Doggie table numbers are fabulous, but I’m afraid they won’t tie in with our theme. We shall see…Thanks for the great suggestions!

@ggsb:
OMG these are fabulous! I should just turn Charlie into a girl….

@mrsshotglass:
Oh cute! That’s great that you included him and that everything went smoothly!

@Steph921:
I know! I’m thinking about getting the rest of the family as well. We’ll already have the cake topper versions of us, which is a great keepsake, so would be fun to have the whole family ;)
