Glamnuptials: The Newlyweds

April 7th, 2009 @ 11:51 am by Mrs. Flamingo

Like my fave Disney movie song says so well, “Go on and kiss the girl.” (I know you all know what movie I am talking about. Here’s a hint: she’s a mermaid.) I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate our new life together!

Once the ceremony was finished, it was like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. No more pressure of screwing up my vows, or being afraid of losing my garter while walking down the aisle. (Oh wait—that DID happen…)

Regardless, I was one happy MRS. and this picture was proof of that.

Even though everything seemed to go smoothly, my new hubby kept stepping on my dress… and it literally yanked me a couple of times. I was afraid to pull a Jessica Alba in Good Luck Chuck. You know, where her skirt gets caught in the car door and rips off, leaving her in her panties? It wouldn’t have been a very sexy thing if it happened on my wedding day.

When Mr. Flamingo wasn’t stepping on my dress, we were able to snap a couple of shots. Thank goodness, because I seriously didn’t need another reason for having mediocre pictures.

Prepping up for the next pic, I happened to see something dark come right in my face. I soon realized my older sister was trying to put glasses on my face. Even though I knew these pictures wouldn’t be as great as if we had brought our own sunglasses, it was still funny to see Mr. Flamingo take advantage of the situation, and…

… he looked down my dress! No need to worry, Mr. F, my ladies are still there, and all yours!

After fooling around and being a typical guy, we were able to take my favourite newlywed shot. Every time I look at this picture it puts a smile on my face, and I reminisce, “Remember when we got married?” even though it hasn’t even been a year.

When the photo session was complete, it was time to go back to the hotel and discover what the “Bosse des Noces” did for us. When we made our big entrance (really, it was an exit) on the terrace (where all our guests were enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres), we were welcomed with lots and lots of clapping hands.

It was so nice to finally enjoy the party… plus, it was a gorgeous day, and the sun made everyone even happier (though I don’t think that was any way possible). When we got inside, we took a picture next to our chandelier tree - one of my favorite decor pieces. I don’t know what I was looking at. I guess it would have been a good idea to look at the photographer, but oh well.

All the unexpected moments are what made our wedding day even more special.

Did you have any funny moments on your wedding day?

I learned recently that the french word for wedding is “la noce”.

Just to be sure, I typed it into google translator, and it came back with an interesting translation - “whoopee”!

Did you feel like saying “whoopee!!” at your whoopee? ;)

Few people could pull off that hairstyle and you did so perfectly! I absolutely love it. Also, you have such a pretty profile! (Lovely shot of you walking down the church steps with Mr. Flamingo.)
