Mr Piglet and I are on a mission to find a slim cut suit for his small, yet buff, frame.
I will be the first to admit, I know absolutely nothing about suits - the terminology, styles, armhole positioning, etc. Nada. I care to know as much as he cared about the neckline, silhouette, and bodice of my dress, to be honest.
My two-cent contribution was that he consider other suit colors aside from tan. I have no qualms about tan suits. With our wedding being an all day event, I’m just worried he’ll spill something like our friend, Dr Ko, did last year. Hindsight is 20/20, and eating noodles with black bean sauce (jja jang myun) in between the ceremony and reception probably wasn’t such a hot idea.

Mr Piglet owns two suits: one black, and the other charcoal colored. He purchased his black Paul Smith in 2003, and wore it to every wedding/dress-up function we attended until 2006. There seemed to be an influx of engagements amongst our friends in 2007, so I finally decided it was time to expand his color palette and gifted him with the charcoal suit. The charcoal suit was easy on the wallet, and looked nice. But side-by-side, the quality in comparison to the Paul Smith is sub-par. Mr Piglet views suits as an investment, as does my Pops. He’d rather pay for a nicely tailored, high-quality suit that he’ll wear for years to come.
So off we went to Tysons Galleria, aka Tysons II, aka Baller Mall, since most of the stores there are on the higher-end. Armed with my camera, we headed to our first stop: Neiman Marcus.
Suit #1: Armani ($2000+ range). To the right is Bill, our sales rep. Without even mentioning color preference, he recommended grey for Mr Piglet’s olive skin tone. He thought tan would wash him out, as will the color yellow (my bridesmaids’ dress color). ![]()

Off the rack, this suit fit him best. After hopping around to other stores, we came back and tried on the jacket and pants together. Lookin’ good honey!

Suit #2: Ermenegildo Zegna ($2000+ range). Like many other stores, the smallest size they carried was 38. It didn’t fit as well as the Armani, but this gives you an idea of the tan color on Mr Piglet.

Suit #3: Alfani at Macy’s ($200+ range). He’s so cute, and we’re both getting tired at this point. This jacket had more of a boxy fit.

Suit #4: Theory ($400+). Another tan contender, that fit quite nicely. Is it me or does it look like he needs to pull out a wedgie? Oh, he’s so handsome!

All in all, it was a very productive day. I researched a bit online and read about the Fitzgerald suit from Brooks Brothers. We’ll check that out before making a decision.
So, originally we pictured Mr Piglet in a tan suit, with his groomsmen in button ups, and khakis. Now we can’t decide between tan or grey. Can I get some help from the hive, please?
