About Mrs. Deviled Egg

I love how I’ve been having all of these moments lately where I feel the closeness of the wedding date approaching. The reality of the upcoming marriage is really sinking in. I mentioned in my post about mailing our invitations that I had some excitement and a realization that I was, in fact, getting married. This is officially happening, people!

Just the other day, Mr. Deviled Egg gave me another one of those “this is really happening moments” when he said the words “my wife” in one of our phone conversations. (Talking about me, of course!)

Cue the excitement! Cue the butterflies!

Here’s the back-story on how this conversation came about.

Mr. DE’s older brother just got engaged a week or two ago (Exciting, huh!?!) and set a date for June, a month after our wedding. It looks like the logistics of their wedding will require an overnight stay at a hotel following the rehearsal, as the location is over an hour from home and the ceremony starts in the morning.

Because my current situation has me living an hour from Mr. DE, my first thought was maybe I could just drive from my house to their wedding in the morning since I won’t have to be there early for pictures, as Mr. DE would. (He’s the best man!) Mr. DE quickly mentioned how I should be staying with him because, as he put it, “I would like to have my wife with me.” The conversation continued for a couple more seconds, but I was still hung up on the “MY WIFE” part, and didn’t hear what else he was saying. The “I’m getting married” butterflies were a-flutter in my stomach.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

I am going to be his wife! It’s amazing how those words create a flood of excitement and emotions. We are so close to being married and starting our life together. I can taste it! I’ll confess that hearing him say those words kind of made me tear up a little. This is all just so exciting! At the time of his brother’s wedding, we’ll already have been married for a month!

What moments have given you the “I’m getting married” butterflies?

That’s lovely! I had a similar “my wife” moment, but I can’t remember the circumstances now. But yeah, usually it was just a sudden realisation “Hang on, I’m getting MARRIED!” moment.

We do this all the time! LOL We’ll be talking and instead of the “my fiance” it’ll be a “my wife” or “my husband” instead because we’re talking about AFTER the wedding!! We still giggle saying it!

That is so cute. I personally don’t like saying fiance it just sounds weird. I can’t wait for the wife part.

My FI rarely shows interest in planning our wedding. Don’t get me wrong, he cares about our wedding day, he just doesn’t care about picking colors or flowers or what not. But every once in a while, he gets that misty eyed look and talks about how he’s excited for us to be married, and those are the moments when the butterflies come out for both of us. :)

That happened to me the other day…Fiance got Phish tickets to Merriwether Pavilion in Columbia MD, and his friend was asking what he was going to do with his other ticket. His reply was, “I think my wife is going to come with me, buddy!” yay!

Oh that’s so sweet :) I’m waiting for the engagement part *sigh* but the other day instead of saying, “My poor boyfriend is going to go hungry…” I said, “My poor hussss….” He smiled and realized what I was going to say but caught myself mid-word. HAHA
