Every Little Thing

April 8th, 2009 @ 11:00 am by Mrs. Bruschetta

Last week, an interesting post popped up on one of the photography blogs I follow. After first writing a teaser about the experience — and promising pictures — Krista of Edison Photography shared candids and portraits taken while accompanying a bride-to-be and her groom on (separate) fitting appointments. (All pictures courtesy of Edison Photography.)

None of the pictures give away the day-of attire. Rather, they focus on the connections shared between those in attendance — a mother’s emotional response to a daughter transformed into a bride, three generations playfully interacting during an appointment at a tuxedo shop.

When I read this post, I thought immediately of Miss Gloss’s lottery-focused wedding post. And I realized, this is it. If I had the funds, I’d hire professionals to document every little thing — each memorable aspect of the wedding planning journey.

Just look at these immensely touching, emotionally-charged photos. If this were your family, wouldn’t you want to ensure this day doesn’t get lost in the shuffle of wedding checklists and vendor emails?

What moments leading up to your wedding would you capture, if you had a limitless photography budget? And what are you doing to ensure you remember the little things leading up to the big day?

That’s so true - I would want to have every little thing captured. That last picture is so moving.

Amazing pics!! If my photographer had been around when I bought my dress, he would have captured me clicking the “buy now” button on ebay, and then the nervous look I must have had on my face when my dress got delivered… trying it on for the first time by myself in my house, and then, skype-ing my sister to give her the first look of my dress… my heart was a-pumpin, and I must have looked terrified!! After seeing her reaction (a great one thankfully!), I relaxed and started to enjoy the moment!!

*sigh* If only!
One of my MOHs is studying photography so, while I want her to feel very much a part of the day rather than an observer on the other side of the lens, I’m keeping fingers crossed for seeing her with a camera bag anytime we do wedding related things!
The number one thing I would have photographed (besides the wedding, of course) would be the rehearsal dinner. All the people who are closest to us will be there and I think it’d be an awesome chance to get some amazing shots of our friends and us really interacting.
Then probably the some of the preparations: writing out invitations, putting together favors, etc.

I would have had someone photograph me making my invites. That was a lot of work! And nothing to show but some paper scraps LOL!

Thanks for the post - what a great day that was! My photography is all about the emotions and relationships… so to be able to connect with the friends and family before the wedding is a dream - on the wedding day we’re already like old friends and can be relaxed with each other!

The little guy with the cell phone - way too cute. Better believe I’ll be chasing him around with my camera on the wedding day!
