Letterpress Lovelies

April 9th, 2009 @ 2:07 pm by Mrs. Bruschetta

While trying to be mindful of the Bruschetta budget, I’m also hoping to share custom letterpress invitations with our guests. Although these designs come with a heftier price tag than we’re willing to pay, I’m swooning nonetheless:

Have you looked at Mercurio Brothers? They have pretty great prices for letterpressing. Make sure you use the thicker paper though (300 gm Somerset) - I got some samples and the thinner paper is just okay, but the Somerset is gorgeous.

I’m swooning over the fact that in the 10th photo that lucky girls new name is Madeline Tennyson! But I guess that’s what makes me a bookworm =P

They are all beautiful and I would love to do letterpress- i’m not sure how much I want to pay for texture (that is the general appeal of a letterpress invite right? As i’m new to the idea of letter press that’s a genuine question)

I most definitely share your weakness. I long for letterpress and will shift just about anything around in my budget to make it happen!

To answer Miss Bookworm, texture is definitely a part of it for me. The weight of the paper corresponds to the weight of the occasion for me… if that makes sense :)

@MissBookworm: Both Mrs. Lollipop and a guest blogger have given behind-the-scenes looks at (and explanations of) letterpress printing.

I would have loved letterpress–but too spensiv for us! We used Lindsey Ryan on Etsy and she did a great job with flat printing. Can’t wait to see your letterpress lovelies!

I love letterpress too!! I don’t think that will ever be in my budget though, sadly. I’m worried more about finding a dress than the perfect invites.

Hey! I recognized that first etsy example right away! We are also using Blackbird Press. Melissa is great! I actually got her name from a wedding blog, too!

We haven’t decided if we’re enclosing a reception card, directions, etc. but we’ll probably mix letterpress with flat printing to keep costs down.

Bella Figura’s prices are the same for a stock design or custom piece if that helps!

I also LOVE letterpress invitations! We decided to splurge on them. We chose a design from Papeterie. They are beautiful and the company was amazing to work with too!

Ahhh, i love letterpress! but after looking at the budget and realizing that there was just no way, i decided i would take my invite design to a little local shop and get a few keepsake invites letterpressed - for me, my mom, my MiL, anyone likely not to recycle it!
