Sole Searching

April 10th, 2009 @ 8:35 am by Mrs. Bruschetta

Look what I found a few weeks ago at DSW!

Off-white, peep toe and d’orsay (holla, bees!), with a not-too-high heel, a cute accent — and, at $35, an amazing half-off price!

I’m concerned, though, that they just don’t fit properly — nipping at my toes and rubbing at my heels — and worrying my poor feet will be painfully protesting before we’ve even reached the church. So, although I’m hanging onto these for now — I’ve already returned and repurchased them once to extend the (way too short!) 30-day return policy — I’m also continuing my search.

I’ll definitely be actively combing stores to see if I can find any contenders. But, I could also use some help from shoe-obsessed hive members!

I’m looking for a peep toe pump — d’orsay would be great, but isn’t a requirement (and slingback is another great option!) — with a three-inch (or so) heel in ivory, cream or another off-white shade. I’d much rather they cost less than $100, but I’m considering pricier options (I keep returning to JCrew.com to swoon and wonder if a pastel shoe would work…) if I’ll be able to re-wear them in the future. I’ve got a slightly less common size (6 or 6.5), but I’m starting to wonder if I’m imaging a shoe — cute AND comfy — that just doesn’t exist!

With my first fitting rapidly approaching, I gotta firm up this shoe thing, and fast. Any suggestions?

These are darling! Can I have ‘em if they don’t work out? :)

One reccomendation for all you ladies out there…buy Blister Block! It’s a Johnson & Johnson product (you’ll find it in the drugstore by the bandaids). It looks like a mini stick of deoderant and I use it when I go running as well as with other shoes that rub my feet in the wrong places…works like a charm!

Take it from me– don’t wear uncomfortable shoes on your wedding day– or at least bring something else to change into. I wore some satin jcrew heels that were super cute, but also pinched my baby toe to the point of distraction. You do a lot of standing on your wedding day and you don’t want to be thinking about a developing blister.

for shoes that mildly rub you can always rub body glide on your feet prior to putting the shoes on. It’s the stuff that marathon runners use to prevent rubbing when they’re running, but it works like a charm at preventing blisters in shoes too. While it’s kind of greasy when you first put it on, it doesn’t rub off on clothes/shoes and it usually lasts all day. Most sports stores have it or you can get it online: http://www.amazon.com/BodyGlide-Anti-Chafing-Stick/dp/B001FSL8MA

I just went a little hunt for shoes this weekend!!! Ahh, it was a pain the but but I found only one contender also. I am looking for something a little different, but still ivory/bone color, maybe this will help you. Check out Aldo. The shoe I describe here is on sale currently! http://nolanandcamille.blogspot.com/2009/04/you-say-to-do-list-i-say.html

I was worried about comfort too, and I finally took the plunge and got some Stuart Weitzman’s and I don’t regret it at all. Bluefly tends to have a bunch of them for a huge discount, and I got mine from Zappos for only about $100. It made all the difference. I’m all for saving money, but if I’m in pain all night it’s just not worth it. You should take a look!

I maintain my stance - get inexpensive dance shoes from ‘Very Fine’ or ‘DSOL’ - very comfy, very cute and definitely under $100.

OMG I AM SO JEALOUS! I saw those shoes at DSW almost a year ago and I LOVED them, but they didn’t have my size (I checked 6 DSWs). I even looked all over the internet for them! I finally settled for a different pair at DSW (on clearance for $30) and I’m glamming them up with some ribbon roses.

I’m a huge fan of zappos they have great variety and they pay for shipping both ways. I always wear shoes around the house for a while so I can get a good feel for them.

I’m still shopping for shoes, too. I bought one pair but I’m not sure, so like you I’m considering returning them… it’s tough!

Cute shoes! Have you tried endless, zappos, piperlime? Also I’ve heard that foot petals work wonders.

@lreighard1: Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely be checking out Nordy’s!

@Miss Stiletto: Haha, if you’re a 6.5, you can certainly buy them off of me provided I find another pair!

@Miss Cowboy Boot: I found them off the clearance rack a few weeks ago at DSW. I’ll PM you this as well!

@fifisweet: Soooo pretty — but the heel’s a little too high for my liking and comfort! :-(

@ all: Thanks for the shoe recommendations and blister soreness prevention tips!
