About Mrs. Bruschetta

Baby Blue

April 13th, 2009 @ 6:24 pm by Mrs. Bruschetta

According to Mama Bruschetta, the hospital gift shop didn’t carry little-girl-pink pins. So, she purchased one of the light blue ones. Her handwritten edit — replacing “boy” on the enclosed card with “girl” — completed the package celebrating the second Bruschetta daughter… me!

BruschettAunt Cino also hopped on board the baby memento train. Her contribution? A baby bonnet for my christening. A card explained the purpose of this lacey, white, beribboned bonnet:

This is a most important gift for a newborn baby girl to receive. By saving the cap and restoring it to its original shape as a wedding handkerchief, this becomes a beautiful heirloom gift for a very special baby to use when she is a bride.

Again, thanks to Mama Bruschetta, this keepsake is also in mint condition, and ready to make an appearance at the Bruschetta wedding. I’ve already owned up to — at times — being an over-emotional little hors d’oeuvre though, so I wonder if I shouldn’t actually use the handkerchief for its intended purpose. What say you, hive?

Two somethings old and one something blue — both 25 years in the making!

This is adorable. I attended a baby shower where they gave the christening bonnet/handkerchief. The grandmother to be bawled over it as she read the description (in a good yet ugly cry way)– but it’s soooo sweet!! And how funny that the pin is blue rather than pink?! A very convenient occurrence I say!!

Aww….so nice! My something blue will most likely be my garter…not sure yet. Something old = bracelet, something borrowed = earrings from mom, something new = veil? Mine defintely don’t have as much sentiment that yours do!

I think using it to blot your teary eyes is acceptable. But full on ugly crying face nose blowing should probably be avoided!

You can never have to much luck and isn’t that what the something old, new, borrowed and blue are all about.

I have multiples of each I think with my dress, ring as new. Grandma’s ring as borrowed, blue and old. Crinnie is borrowed. I also have a blue ring fi gave me that is old. So why not use both.

What a sweet keepsake. I will have to work on my borrowed and old… I think I have the new and blue down (a lot will be new, dress etc, and the shoes will be blue).

The pin is gorgeous. I hadn’t heard of reusing the bonnet, what a lovely idea!

My something old is going to be my 92-year-old Grandmother’s necklace from when she had her first Communion. I’m very excited to wear it!

New will be the dress. I haven’t figured old borrowed and blue yet.
