Drats! Plan B for the Shoes

April 13th, 2009 @ 11:52 am by Mrs. Perfume

So, like many bees, I don’t want to wear white bridal shoes. They’re not very re-wearable (I know, neither is the dress, but that’s a different story).

Of course I climbed on the colored-shoe-wagon and bought these, thinking I could add crystal shoe clips:

HOWEVER, I had a dress fitting yesterday (to get it hemmed) and they were sticking out like clown shoes. Hi, Hobo the Water Clown. They aren’t going to work with the dress…They’re too poofy, and the color is too ’ka-pow’!

Even if I replaced the poofs with crystal shoe clips, they still wouldn’t work because my dress fabric is so delicate and thin that it would get caught in the crystals. Anyway, I think the bright (beautiful) blue is too bold for my extremely understated natural silk white dress. I’m exceptionally sad because I wanted to wear brightly colored shoes!

I need something more muted, yet still minxy, like the dress. Then I found some very strappy gold sandals with… a feather poof at the ankle strap!!! I can’t wait to wear them. They’re just the right amount of glam and vintage-y boudoir!

Here’s what they look like on (imagine them in the gold as above):

As for my cool pin-up girl blue satin babies, I’ll just wear them with my reception dress!

Did you hit a home run with your shoes the first go ’round? How many pairs of shoes have you purchased? What will you do with the seconds (or thirds)?

I purchased three pairs and returned two. I love the ones I kept… Of course, I still haven’t tried them on with my dress, so I may find myself in a situation similar to yours! I’ll have to keep my fingers crossed until my next fitting (I’m a genius and forgot to take the shoes to the first fitting).

Haha, I’m about to buy #3 — and hopefully #4, which will be THE shoes, allowing me to return all the rest — tonight!

Have you thought of wearing different (more fun, brightly colored) shoes for the reception only?
I thought I’d want to wear colored shoes with my dress for the ceremony, but I just found some nice ivory shoes from jcrew for a good price - so ivory it is!
I’m wearing different shoes for the reception, though - with color!

Oh, I LOVE the shoes that you are going to wear now. Very ethereal and lovely. You could still do a pop of blue with a cute garter or swanky pair of panties. That would be fun for your groom, anyhoo. :)

I knew I wanted pink shoes, but I wasn’t even shopping for anything in particular when I found the perfect shoes for $5! I about fell over. I knew I wanted pink satin flats because I am tall and I don’t do well in heels, so I lucked out! I do want to find a cha-cha pair of heels to wear in my “get away” outfit!

Yummy gold shoes! Love the ankle “poof”.

I have spent an inordinate amount of time looking for shoes. After my post last week (and with the help of our amazing readers!), I finally settled on a pair & bought them!

Love your shoes, both of them! I secretly wish I will have to buy new shoes for the wedding too, it was my favorite part of wedding attire shopping!

@Melia: They’re Luichiny brand and the style is “Minx”. It looks like they’re sold out on Zappos, so hopefully you can find them elsewhere–maybe Amazon or Endless??

I love those manolas! I wish I could find a sexy kitten heel. There just aren’t enough to choose from.

I have just returned my first pair of shoes. They just didn’t look right with the dress at my first fitting :(

I think I have found the next pair, just not sure about the heel height. This is stressful!

I bought 6 pairs and finally settled on one, even though it feels too narrow for my feet. :(

I’ve purchased two pair so far (first item purchased, actually bought the shoes before I got my e-ring!) … The first pair are cute, but were a smidge too tight in the toe. I was able to losen them up, but I can’t see wearing them on a day I’ll be on my feet all day. I still plan to hang onto them for bridal shower shoes though. The second pair fit wonderfully and are really comfortable cute flat mary janes. I’m actually planning on making a sweet dainty pair of handknit ankle socks to wear with them under my dress. Very unconventional, but very me. :)

Sight I got a big lump in my throat when I saw that first pair, and then quickly pulled myself together and remembered that my name is not Carrie Bradshaw. Boo.

Looks like you have two fabulous pairs of shoes! Love the ankle detail!
