About Mrs. Labrador

My wonderful bridesmaid Brittany threw Mr. Lab and me an amazing engagement party a few weeks ago. Another bridesmaid, Ashley, my MOH, Amanda, as well as some of Brittany’s roommates, helped out with the decorations and food setup. I could not believe how fabulous the party was. I expected just a few bottles of wine and some cheese (since I knew the guests were expected to bring either a bottle of wine or a block of cheese), but I had no idea that they would have so many delicious hors d’oeuvres as well! The girls really outdid themselves. They made me wonder if hiring a caterer for the reception is really necessary… ;)

Brittany started out by sending adorable Evites to the guests. Here’s the main banner of the invitation:

As I said, the food was absolutely amazing and yummy! There were mini burgers, mini strawberry cheesecakes, herbed potatoes with dip, fruit, and stuffed mushrooms. Brittany even went so far as to find napkins with a damask theme! How thoughtful is that?!?

Of course, I can’t forget the great wines and cheeses. The girls set up a display with balloons, a banner, and pictures of Mr. Lab and me, along with the wine and cheese. They even put cute little bride and groom outfits on a couple bottles!

And you’ll have to excuse Mr. Lab’s face in this one, but I wanted to show off how handsome he looks in his all-black ensemble. Grrrr… ;)

We topped off the party with a game of toilet paper wedding dresses! We split the guests up into groups and they had to design a wedding gown out of toilet paper on their “models” (which were all guys!). I then picked my favorite one by calling it pageant-style with runner-ups until the winner was announced. Trey’s (he’s the second from the left with the “veil” covering his face) team won, which ironically consisted of Brittany and Amanda! I picked them because he had a sweetheart, trumpet-style gown, which was closest to what my gown looks like! But I do have to say that the bow on Mr. Lab’s butt was fabulous, as well! ;)

Did you get to play any games at your engagement party?

I could not figure out what that guy was doing with toilet paper on his face! But I think that is by far the cleverest use of toilet paper I have seen.

Too funny! We didn’t play the T.P. game at our e-party. I think the only game we played was a guessing game called “How many bottles of wine will be consumed before the evening is over?” I guess we were all winners in that one!

@Cole B: Haha, I know, right? I would have never thought of it!

@Jess: I stalked it at Belk’s until it went on sale from $65 to $40! lol

@azwinelover: We should have played that game as well. We could have started our own winery with all the bottles we had!

@Miss Glitter: Priceless and great blackmail material! Should come in handy when trying to keep the guys in line!

@Miss Beagle: This is true! Needless to say, I was a bit of a lush that night!
