I can cook, sew, am a whiz at planning, terrible at delegating, and totally in love with my fiancé (who will be my second husband but first love of the rest of my life). About Mrs. Cheese

I have hit upon the perfect analogy for wedding planning, and you know how much I love a good analogy. The epiphany is almost good enough to improve my morning, in fact.

You know how, even after a relatively relaxing weekend, you just can’t get going on Monday morning? Despite two cups of coffee and a real desire to get out of the doldrums, your brain can’t think of the right words and your eyes keep wanting to close? You remember having a bazillion things to do when you finally stopped working on Friday afternoon, but you can’t think of a single thing that seems critical right now?

And do you ever feel, on Monday mornings, that you have all the time in the world to get things done, so maybe you’ll just ease into the week by reading a few blogs and catching up with your peeps about their weekends? And you know (oh, you know) that at some point, you’ll be slammed with everything all at once, but right now, you’ll keep believing it won’t be so bad? And that the weekend is so. far. away. that of course you’ll have plenty of time to get everything done, how could you not with five whole days to fit it in?

Wedding planning is like a Monday morning. ‘riday’s to-do list seems like it was so long ago and much less urgent (invites, what invites?). I’ve done a lot of daydreaming but haven’t gotten a whole lot accomplished and I just know it’s going to whack me over the head anytime now. Ugg, I get antsy just thinking about it.

So in true Monday morning fashion, I’m going to avoid it altogether by doing something else entirely.

Anyone else feel this way?

Mmmmm pretty much every Monday morning. Or pretty much ever time I start trying to cross wedding stuff off the list!

Amen to this!

It’s been three months since I last did something, anything significant for my wedding in October.

I have faith that things will be done whether I obsess over it or not.

Love this post, it just affirms my theory that I’m not the only bride AVOIDING all of the wedding planning.

(::Borat accent:::) High fiiiive!

YES. A big freakin’ YES. For example… really need to get ceremony musicians, a hair person, a cake person, and our flowers figured out for our Sept. wedding. Just so hard to make me want to do that though!

I hear ya! It actually made me sad for a while that I didn’t absolutely love planning, but then I realized that this was okay. I was just like a new mom who didn’t want to admit that mommying is hard (I just watched the mom episode of Oprah so it’s on my brain). Planning is not easy!!! I was so lucky to be able to snag Mrs. Emerald as my month-of coordinator and she was a big help!

OMG you have so hit the nail on the head and pounded it in. I totally make lists and think I am going to go to my parents and get all these things done. What do I end up doing at my parents playing with the dog playing on my mom’s DS or some other random task. Ger wedding planning is so like monday morning.

A. MAZ. ING. analogy. I am currently getting hit over the head (again and again and again) by my Monday-morning-wedding-planning. I spent the past few months dreaming and reading blogs, and now that my wedding is 3.5 weeks away, I realize that I actually have to BUY that unity candle, and order my bridesmaids gifts, and make those water bottle labels. *SIGH*

I totally agree! I am putting off planning/booking some things because I know it will mean paying for them!

Haha, good analogy. Although I don’t really feel like I put things off–instead, the closer the wedding gets, the more things I decide I want to do! I’m right on schedule as far as what I expected to accomplish by now, but I have a zillions other projects in the works that I hadn’t even dreamed of a few months ago!

So. True. All the to-dos for this last weekend are moving to next weekend and probably the weekend after that. :)
