1 Cake, 2 Cake…

April 14th, 2009 @ 1:38 pm by Mrs. Gloss

I previously posted about my idea for a cake here. But, my Google Reader is constantly bombarding me with additional inspiration, and obviously I fell in love with another (cake, that is). So naturally, I want to ’marry’ the two…

Previous cake of my dreams:

New cake:

Together: (poor photo montage by yours truly)

I think this cake fits the feel of our wedding better, it’s not as fussy, and feels at home with our nautical August wedding.

Don’t worry - there will still be some form of cake DIY, and maybe even some DIY cake stands…

How much guidance/direction are you giving your baker?

I love both, but I think the second is perfect for a nautical-themed wedding! Great choice!

Love the blueberries. I don’t know about you, but I am having a hard time with an ocean/natural theme for a non-tropical destination. I’m getting married on the North Coast of California, which is all sea cliffs and redwoods and old buildings. Nautical is a nice idea!

My mother is a professional baker so, I am sketching my cake. I love looking at pictures and then incorporating the parts I like into one cake. It should be interesting.
Your new cake is sooo cute.

I drew a mock-up of my cake in Paint (no fancy Photoshop for me…). The final product wasn’t exactly what I had envisioned, but it was still awesome. I loved it! I found that my cake definitely fit the “feel” of the other sample cakes my baker had on display and in pictures. So keep this in mind when you’re choosing your baker that if what they have looks nothing like what you’re asking for, you may get more of an approximation than a carbon copy.

I love the new cake! We haven’t decided on a cake/baker yet but I get “inspired” by so many cake photos that I no longer know what we want. haha.

Love the new cake. I loved the old one too, but this one seems to fit in better with your location. Now I am craving some berries- yum.

I love those cakes! I love the look of having multiple smaller cakes instead of one giant parade float cake!

I love cakes with fruit on them but can never seem to find pictures of them! Love the blueberries and the twist of lemon. ^_^

so so so nice to know I am not the only person changing my mind everyday about what I want my cake (and dress, and flowers, and shoes) to be for the wedding!
