When I'm not at work, I'm snowboarding, hiking with my two dogs, mountain biking, surfing, cross-country-skiing, or boating New Mexico's rivers. About Mrs. Cowboy Boot

Centerpiece Envy

April 14th, 2009 @ 11:48 am by Mrs. Cowboy Boot

My signature adorns the line at the bottom of the florist’s contract, but only for a few select items. Plum Sage will be doing my bouquet, the moms/aunts/grandmothers’ corsages, the guys’ boutonnieres, a wristlet for our junior bridesmaid, and will be helping my bridesmaids put together their five bouquets. That’s it. For now.

I haven’t decided yet if I want to DIY our centerpieces or if I just want to throw responsibility into the wind and hand the entire project over to Plum Sage. In both cases, I’ll be supplying a selection of vintage glass vessels for vases. I have quite a few, but plan to spend the summer collecting the rest of them. And if I can’t fill out the collection, the florist has my back.

I haven’t seen a centerpiece using mason jars and vintage cans that feels full enough for me. I thought about using a lantern in the middle to keep things from looking sparse. Miss Labrador blogged about a lantern that I thought might fit into our decor and is affordable (thanks Ms. Lab!). There were a few other options on the Jamali Garden website that also struck my fancy.

Until I figure it out, here are a few images that also strike my fancy.

Any suggestions on how I can fill out our centerpieces?

Those are lovely! I love that first picture with all the different colored jars inside the wood box. You could add the lantern in the center or into one corner to give a focus, and that would be great!

all those ideas are great, and sound like they are right on the lines of what you are looking for! I love small bunches of wildflowers in cans or vintage vases spread around a table!

I also love that first picture with them clustered in the wooden box. That definitely fills things in. The other idea would be putting things on different levels. I’ve seen collected books look so beautiful. Or vintage and collected cake platters could look awesome. The other idea is to fill space with candles and I love the lantern idea.

Ohhh..Miss Cowboy Boot…we are on the same thought train. I am using white candle lanterns for my centerpieces and will be placing them inside wooden boxes I plan to buy from Jamali garden. The surrounding space in the box will be filled with either cat grass or flowers. Now I want to add different colour jars like your first pic!

I love the feel of these…the spindly, loose flower arrangements are absolutely beautiful!

If you have a few different jars or vases on each table that should be full enough, or even if you add some colored jars. I’m not sure I see what you’re going for, but I like the pictures you’ve collected, especially the one with the twine wrapped around it.

I’m having a smilar problem, I like the way Miss Lemon incorporated florals on the table around her candles.

I love picture 7 with the mix of the fancier candelabra and the more casual mason jar

Depending on how rustic your reception is, you can cluster several mason jars (different colors and sizes) in an old wire canning holder; a little rusty is good.

you could use a lantern (i think ikea sells nice white ones for several dollars) + some jars, a mix of heights for effect!

so much fun! we are getting married at a ranch here in colorado as well… our colors are similar and i am having so much fun reading your posts… saying to myself “me too, me too”… i used the same photo (#7) in a conversation with our florist about colors!! we are having the florist do the centerpieces… not because i don’t want to do them myself… but because i don’t want to spread myself too thin in the days before the wedding… we are also using mason jars in multiple areas of our venue… on the tables, and hanging from the “windows” (which have no glass). happy planning!
