Now Showing: The Taffy Invitations!

April 14th, 2009 @ 9:30 am by Mrs. Taffy

Our invitations were mailed out a little over a week ago, and now that they have reached all of our guests, I am ready to reveal them!

I’ve tried to put this post together to show the visual steps that a guest would take as they opened our invitations. I also did this because I had a hard time understanding how to “stuff” all of the information, and hope this visual will be helpful to the hive.

I will do another post with the details of our invites. For now, just think of them as eye candy! ;)

Let’s start at the beginning…

I wish I didn’t have to blank anything out; the graphic looks better with our full names!

You can’t see how the blue Gocco ink shimmers when photographed flat, so I took this angled shot:

I was super excited to send an invitation to President Obama. It was supposed to be a surprise for Mr. Taffy, but he saw it by accident.

A closer look at our custom stamps from Zazzle:

There you have it! I’ll write another post soon detailing the specifics of the invites and the saga to get these babies addressed, stamped, and out into the world! ;) We have already received lots of RSVPs and are very excited!

Very nice!
Questions, did you print by hand or by computer the addy on the front envelope?
Did stamps from Zazzle cost more?
Why did you send a invite to President Obama?

I love the presidential invite!
We’re Canadian and still plan on inviting Obama, The Pitts, and Don Cherry- if for no other reason than to make a funny speech about those who we’re unable to make it to the wedding ;)

I’m dying to know how/where you found that black bow! Is it DIY or did you buy them or were they part of your invite set? I’d LOVE to do something similar!!!

We sent an invite to the president too, but it was before Obama was in office. We got a nice lil’ card from the Bush’s congratulating us. A nice memento.

I can understand why you are getting so many people responding already to you! Most people put off their responses. But your design and the presentation of your invites would make anyone receiving it want to make sure you know they want to attend!

Thanks!!! I was so excited to post the reveal! Let me answer some of your questions now, and more info will be posted soon. :)

@Gerbera: @jesstagirl: @Ms. Scrabble: @suz: The font is Kon Tiki Enchanted from Veer:
http://www.veer.com/products/typedetail.aspx?image=JBT0000027

I did a sneaky trick for the envelopes, it was a post here on weddingbee from earlier this year that I will link to in my details post. We printed the addresses in light gray and I wrote on top of them with a black pen. Soo much work, but worth it in the end!

@Naomi: The black bows were DIY and super fast, easy and came out to cost about 25 cents per invitation. Very much worth it! I’ll post more details in the next entry. :)

@Gerbera: We sent an invitation to President Obama in hopes of receiving a response, just for fun. I was hoping to keep it a secret from Mr. Taffy until something came back in the mail, but I accidentally left it out on our kitchen table. ;)

Ok now I am DYING for you to do the post on the ribbons! I was trying to figure out how to do this and now I’m sending my invites out in less than a week but I think I could do it! I have lots of girls in my house :)

If you wouldn’t mind emailing me I’d be forever grateful! naomitrout@gmail.com (maybe just a hint like if you used double sided tape and how you got the bow so darn cute!) If not, I’ll try to be patient and wait! :)
Thank you!!!!!

FYI, you can “invite” the president up to 12 months after your wedding. So any of you dying for an Obama greeting are still eligible to get one so long as you didn’t get married more than a year ago from the day you send in your request and so long as you are US citizens (sorry Canadians!). On Bush’s website there was a “greetings request” page where you put in your information and it did it automatically for you, but it appears Obama is taking the paper route: http://www.ehow.com/how_4704148_wedding-greeting-president-barack-obama.html

I love, love your invites. I have never heard of inviting famous people (i.e. the Obamas, Mickey Mouse etc). That’s a fun mental note for a few months down the road.

Also, did you go to U of M? If so, Go Blue!

@Rachel: Mr. Taffy’s brother designed them for us! Thanks for the link though! :)
@caseyleah315: We did! The name and street address on that envelope is fake though. I liked the way that Mission Viejo looked in our font when I addressed the real one, so I used it for my “display” copy. ;)
@CeeCee: @jenwindy: I am almost finished with my post, so I promise it will be up soon! In the meantime, I found this tutorial by Mrs. Emerald with a similar bow, in fact, I’m going to link to it in my post!

Sorry to respond so late to a request by a previous poster. To send a wedding invitation to Mickey & Minnie in CALIFORNIA, here is the addy:

Mr. & Mrs. Mickey and Minnie Mouse
The Walt Disney Company
500 South Buena Vista Street
Burbank, California 91521

As I mentioned earlier, even though we were married on February 28th and mailed our invites at the beginning or mid-December, we received an autographed and personalized 8X10 pic of Mickey & Minnie in mid-March! It is a nice little thing to add to my scrapbook. =)
