I’ve Got Mail

A few days ago, I got this in the mail:

Isn’t it cute? My wonderful FMIL, who also made the invite, is throwing a tea party-themed shower for me this weekend. She has invited several of Mr. Beagle’s relatives and a few of her friends. This is my first “wedding event”, and although I’m really excited, I’m a little nervous, too.

I’m not one to like being the center of attention (in fact, I think I avoid it at all costs), so I’m not really sure how I will feel being the guest of honor at this event. Since Mr. Beagle and I have been dating for quite a while, I have met most of his extended family several times. I am also lucky that I am getting wonderful in-laws that get along great with my parents (my mom and FMIL Beagle are becoming good friends). I am hoping that this, accompanied by the fact that Mama and sister Beagle will also be attending, will ease my nerves before the big day. (I guess this is good practice for our wedding…)

My FIs friends threw us a shower in his hometown of Red Wing, MN. It was lovely and fun to meet all of her friends. I am sure you will have a wonderful time and will be adored by all in attendance!

We have both met most of each other’s extended family, but there has not been much interaction between the two. So, I’m also anxious to see how it will go! Try your best to relax and enjoy!

That will be so fun! However, I also get nervous being the center of attention so I understand. We are lucky that our families have met before and get along well, so the wedding has just been an excuse to get together more. I went shopping with both our moms the other weekend.

Cute invite! Have fun at your shower!!
I am also a little nervous about the whole center-of-attention thing. I know all of Mr. Mascara’s extended family, but it’s still weird sitting in the middle of the room opening gifts in front of them.

Those are pretty pink stripes. Even if you’ve already met the family, it’ll be nice to gather everyone in your honor! My “people” haven’t met his “people”, with the exception of his mom…that will happen at the rehearsal dinner!

The Mr and I have known each other for about 20 years (elementry school) so are families have known each other a long time plus we have been dating 5 years before our engagement.

I knew most of the people at my shower, but I was also nervous since, like you, I don’t like to be the center of attention. However, after a glass of champagne punch and greeting everyone, it really wasn’t bad. Your anxiety (while totally valid!) will probably dissipate about ten minutes into the shower. Good luck, and don’t stress too much!
